Paz receives Carr Academic Scholarship
Hannah R. Paz, of Pecos, is one of the students who will be attending
Angelo State University on a Carr Academic Scholarship.
Angelo State University has awarded Carr Academic Scholarships for the
2003-04 academic year to 248 outstanding high school graduates who will
be enrolling at ASU this fall.
The scholarships range in value from $1,500 to $6,000.
During the current academic year more than 1,000 students from throughout
Texas, the United States and several foreign countries are attending Angelo
State University on Carr Academic Scholarships.
To qualify for Carr Academic Scholarships, entering freshmen must, as
a general rule, rank in the top 15 percent of their class and present either
a combined math and verbal score of 1140 on the SAT I or a composite score
of 25 on the ACT.
The scholarship program at Angelo State is supported by a growing multi-million
dollar trust established by the late Robert G. and Nona K. Carr of San Angelo.
Vacation Bible School planned
A Pecos Community Vacation Bible School will be held from 6-9 p.m., beginning
Monday, July 7 until Friday, July 11, at the Primera Iglesia Bautista Church,
8th and Sycamore Street.
Everyone is invited to come and bring family and friends to a study of
God's word in stories, songs, games and art.
A Talent Program will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, July 11.
