Pecos hosting tennis tourney next weekend

Pecos High School tennis coach Mike Ortiz is currently accepting entries for the West of the Pecos Tennis Tournament, part of the 11-tournament Black Gold Tennis Circuit being played across West Texas this summer.

The Pecos stop will be held on July 5-6 at the PHS tennis courts. Entries are normally due for the tournament by this Friday, but Ortiz said he would accept late entries through the start of next week. Entry fee is $15 for one event, $20 for two events and $25 for three events.

The tournament will be divided into boys and girls divisions for 12 and under, 14 and under, 16 and under, 18 and under and adults. Events will include boys/men's singles and doubles and girls/women's singles and doubles in both divisions, along with an Open Mixed Doubles Division.

Matches will be two out of three sets with a third set tiebreaker, and the tournament will follow USTA guidelines.

For further information or to obtain an entry form, contact Ortiz at 445-2185 or 631-5349.
