Golden Girl Nominee
Natalia Ornelas
Natalia Ornelas is the 16-year-old daughter of Bernadette and Francisco Ornelas Jr.
She is being sponsored by GabeCo Air Conditioning and Heating Systems;
Alfredo's Mexican Restaurant and Dutchover's.
Miss Ornelas is a member of the National Honor Society; Student Council
Class representative for all four years of high school;
a member of the Pecos High School Mighty Eagle Band; FFA; varsity basketball, where she
was named All-District Defense in 2001-2002;
varsity tennis; was named to Who's Who Among American High School Students; District
singles champ in tennis for years 2001-2002 and
2002-2003; made First Team All-District for past
three years in tennis; was a member of the State qualifying Team Dairy products and raises
pigs for the annual livestock show.
She is the Latin Club reporter; and Local and District FFA Officer for 2002-2003.
After high school graduation, Miss Ornelas plans to attend college and go into the
medical field.
She enjoys playing the piano and drums, singing in the Santa Rosa Catholic Church
Choir and church lector, watching movies, playing tennis, cooking and spending time with
family and friends.
Miss Ornelas is currently employed at the Tropical Sno.
"My grandma always told me that if I
believed in myself, all things were possible,
especially through God," said Ornelas. "That's one thing
I think about every day. I do my best in trying to be my best that I will be," she said.
