Does anybody remember a kind lady we called Miss Jones? She used to give shoes and clothes to the poor back when I used to go to Earl Bell elementary. If you do please tell me what you remember or who she was. __________________________________________________

I noted in the Pecos Enterprise that the State Theater was about to reopen. That is good news! I spent many evenings and weekends there working for Mr. Durham and working with Cliff Durham and Billy Hurley. I was so sad to leave that job. Mr. Durham got so much laughter out of my driving to work in my 1928 Model A Ford.

Thanks to those who are working to reopen it!

From: SiprSprs@aol.com

The recipe that Bob Huckabee posted is the same Foster Cream Pie recipe that my mother {Norma Merworth} has in her old recipe book. She obtained it from Foster's years ago. She was head of the kitchen in the hospital for 30 years so had access to lots of local favorites for the patients that just had to have one last dessert or other favorite food. That was before managed health care and patients could often have what they wanted. She retired from Pecos Memorial in 1986.

Enjoy it ,,,,,,,if you want to go to the trouble of making it yourself.

Hello Pecos Gab:

My family moved from Pecos to Monahans in 1975. I would have graduated with the PHS class of 1980. Since I attended school in Pecos from Kindergarten through Eigth Grade, I would love to make contact with some of my old classmates. I attended Pecos Elementary and Crockett Jr. High. I played on the Jr. High tennis team under the guidance of coach Ken Garlitz.

My family attended church at the 4th and Bois Darc Church of Christ. We lived at 1606 Cowan Street. I have so many fond memories of growing up in Pecos. If anyone knows when the Class of 1980 Reunion will be held, please let me know.

My parents still live in Monahans. I now live in Lubbock with my wife and three children. My younger sister, Kristie, also lives in Lubbock with her husband and two children. If you remember me, please send me an email.

Hello to everyone from balmy -10 degrees F Fairbanks, Alaska. I just received my list of missing Classmates. I guess you can cross off Gayla Bolling's name. Some folks know I've been hiding out in the hills since graduating from Texas Tech in 1994 with my Master's in Education. For those of you who didn't, here's a little "catch you up". Oh heck, why give you all the boring details now when I'll see you all at the class reunion at the country club in Pecos in the scorching 100 degrees plus. See you all there.

Hey, if anyone knows how to reach Melinda (Vick) Crews, I would like to contact her.

Thanks,

Gayla (Bolling) Orrell

Hello from the frigid mid-west (Detroit Michigan).

This is Jess Miramontes from the class of 1984. I was reading the Pecos Gab and came across a posting from Jack Galindo. I would like to echo his sentiments about recieving email from other members of the class of 84 (give or take a few years). AAAAAnnnnnddddd, like Jack Galindo, I would also like to express a sincere desire to NOT be contacted by Jack Galindo. His motives are suspect and his character is shady.

I was wondering if anyone has any information on the following:

Jerome Garcia
Trey Esparza
Martin Machuca
Oscar Machuca

Smile, I Gotcha Jack.

From: "Teri Beauchamp" tinker@axs4u.net

This is the real "Foster's Texas Cream Pie" , Harry Foster Jr. sent this to me about a year ago, saying that he wanted to share it with the people who loved it so I want to help share it. this will make 2 pies
2 cups milk
1/2 cup sugar
2 TBs. butter or oleo
second 1/2 cup sugar
3 eggs
1/4 cup cornstarch
1T. vanilla
2 cups whipping cream, whipped and sweetened

Mix milk, 1/2 cup sugar and butter in sauce pan or top of double boiler. Heat to near boiling.

Mix eggs, 1/2 cup sugar and cornstarch, and pour a little of hot mixture into eggs, etc. Then return all to suace pan and cook slowly while stirring constantly until thick as custard.

Set aside to cool completely, then add vanilla and 1/2 of the whipped cream. Garnish with grated chocolate and cool for at least 4 hours, or overnight.

HOPE EVERYONE ENJOYS IT AND HAS SOME GOOD MEMORIES WHILE EATING IT....REMEMBER IT IS VERY VERY LOW IN CALORIES,,,,,,,,,

Hi, I'm Robin L. Green. I lived in Pecos from 1959 - Feb 64. I was surfing the net and found the Pecos web site and thought I would send a message to see if any of my old friends are still around. I ran around with Steve Greenhill, Bobby Stafford, and Jerry Bell. I remember that my little brother William was good friends with Chris Spray (I think the last name is spelled right). If we had stayed in Pecos I would have graduated with the Class of 1971. Anyway, If anybody reading this message knows any of the above please have them send me an e-mail at familygreenhondo.com. Hope everyone in Pecos has a good Thanksgiving and I look forward to hearing from "Ya'll" soon.

P.S. My mailing address is: 300 Private Rd 4420, Hondo, TX 78861 and my home telephone # is (830) 741-4243.

I'm sitting in my home in Norman, Oklahoma watching "The Wizard of Oz" with my children and the scarecrow just finished singing his song, "If I only had a Brain". It made me remember when Kim Shepherd sang that song as her talent in the Golden Girl Pageant of 1987. If anyone remembers that or anything around it, holler at me. (This is Wendy (Sullivan) Pingleton.) Does anyone know what happened to Kim? We certainly had a blast doing that pageant!! I'll be in Pecos over the holidays. For those of you who know me, look me up, I'll be at my grandmother's house.

Chow, Wendy

From: "aeromondo" aeromondo@webcombo.net

Peggy,

My sister called a few days ago asking if I had our mom's recipe file and her recipe for turkey dressing. Mom passed away two years ago and I wound up with the little brown box with some of her recipes in it. The file contains recipes clipped from food boxes and packaging and little cryptic had written notes, but mom had most of her stuff in her head. She cooked by instinct and measurements were a matter of mood and occasion as much as they were of any other system. Even though she operated from memory she managed to stuff the little brown wooden file card box to overflowing with treasures. A typical example is the "Mississippi Mud Cake" recipe printed on a card that was evidently included with the Community Public Service electric bill probably from the "fifties". There is even a recipe with all the ingredients for making one's very own instant hot chocolate, just add hot water.

One of the hand written recipes is one I think many Pecos Exes will be interested in so I am attaching a scan of the recipe my mom wrote for what I believe may be "Foster's Texas Crème Pie".

Perhaps you can find a spot on the Pecos site for the image so that is could be down-loaded or viewed by anyone who would like to try this famous treat.

Thanks,
Bob Huckabee

O.K. Bob, here they are:
