Pecosite inducted into honor society

Twelve students in business administration, and two alumni, have been accepted into membership in Delta Mu Delta, a national honor society in business administration.

The Zeta Upsilon Chapter, chartered at Sul Ross in 1993, inducted these new members into the society on Monday, Nov. 29, at Kokernot Lodge.

Delta Mu Delta membership is a symbol of a student's readiness to meet the responsibilities of the future. With a growing membership of more than 95,000 undergraduates, graduates, and alumni, Delta Mu Delta has a two-fold mission; to promote higher scholarship in training for business and to recognize and reward business administration students who have distinguished themselves scholastically.

Inductees, included Pecos resident, Crissy M. Dominguez, a senior, office systems and teacher certification major.

Millennium poses fear in some

If you fear the new millennium, you need to pick your friends carefully.

"Many people fear computers will crash, banks and ATM machines will shut down and that the end of the world is coming," said Dr. James Lomax, a psychiatrist with Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. "There will be people out there who will exploit a person's financial fears in ways that could be very costly to them. Others will try to involve people in group activities, such as going out into the desert on New Year's Eve, that could be dangerous."

Lomax believes people will feel a sense of relief once New Year's Day comes and goes. However, many will be embarrassed about steps they have taken preparing for the worst and resent those who took advantage of them.

During times of anxiety it's always best to huddle close to those you can trust.
