Ramirez attends seminar at Texas Tech University

Marylou Marquez Ramirez, a second grade student at Cactus Elementary School in Levelland, is in the Gifted and Talented Program.

The group of first through fourth grade of students traveled to the International Cultural Center on the Texas Tech University to attend a seminar, "The Past Affects the Present."

The featured presenter was Kira Harris Johnson, christened Kira Alexandrine Brigid Cecilia Ingrid Harris of Prussia, the great granddaughter of the King of Prussia and the last German emperor, Kaiser Wilhelm II, and the great granddaughter of Queen Victoria.

Ramirez is a former Pecos resident was a student in Anita Zubeldia's second grade class at Austin Elementary School, before moving to Levelland.

Community Thanksgiving Service set

A Community Thanksgiving Service will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 14, at the First Assembly of God Church, 2209 S. Eddy.

Blake Coffee, of Austin, will be the guest speaker.

The event is sponsored by the Ministerial Fellowship of Pecos and everyone is invited to attend.
