Graham completes cadet training
Randall T. Graham recently completed the cadet basic training program at
the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y. The training is designed to
form new academy cadets into disciplined soldier-officers possessing personal
pride, confidence, obedience to command orders, and dedication to duty.
During the six-week rigorous program, the cadet was trained in basic
military skills, rifle marksmanship, field tactical maneuvers, physical
fitness and endurance, military courtesy, drill and ceremonies, and academic
instruction.
After completing the basic training program, the cadet is accepted into
the U.S. Corps of Cadets at the academy. Consequently, upon graduating
from the academy, the cadet receives a bachelor's degree and is commissioned
as a second lieutenant in the Army.
Graham is the son of Randy J. and Leslie M. Graham of Pecos.
He is a 1999 graduate of Pecos High School.
Orozco makes Dean's List
David Lopez Orozco of Pecos earned a place on the Dean's Honor Roll for
the Summer Quarter at Texas State Technical College (TSTC) in Waco.
Orozco is a student in the Biomedical Equipment Technology program.
The Dean's Honor Roll recognizes the scholastic achievement of students
with a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.99 for the quarter.
As the largest residential technical college in the nation, TSTC Waco
offers over 40 exemplary instrucitonal programs ranging from advanced manufacturing
in electronics and laser electrooptics to aerospace and information /presentation
technologies.
Texas State Technical College in Waco is part of the only state-supported
technical college system in Texas. Other campuses are located in Harlingen,
Marshall and Sweetwater. With more than 40 instructional programs in critical
and emerging technologies, TSTC is preparing a workforce to meet the demands
of industries and businesses.

Local office has name change
Commercial Credit office, located at 201 S. Oak Street, changed its name
to Citi-Financial on Sept. 7. Mayor Dot Stafford served as the honored
host at the Grand New-Naming Event in celebration of the 87-year-old company's
new name.
As part of the celebration at the Pecos location, CitiFinancial also
kicked off a "Change for Name Change" coin collection campaign to benefit
the local "Christmas in Spring" program. Through mid-October, customers
and the public are invited to drop their change in the collection container
at the Pecos office.
Joining Mayor Dot Stafford at the sign unveiling and "Change for Name
Change" kick off was Daisy Roquemore, president, of the "Christmas in Spring"
program, who dropped the first coin in the collection container.
CitiFinancial is part of the Citigroup family, the world's most global

"We'll continue to be an active participant in the Pecos community and
hope everyone will join us in donating to the `Change for Name Change'
coin collection drive to benefit `Christmas in Spring' program," she said.
