Middle school elects officers
Lamar Middle School sixth graders recently elected student council officers
for the year 1999-2000.
Hillary Hinojos was elected president; Amanda Natividad, vice president;
Evelyn Florez, secretary and Marissa Gabaldon, treasurer.
Forty-six candidates for the offices gave brief speeches during an assembly
at their school on Sept. 10. After the assembly, students returned to their
homerooms to vote.
In addition to the officers, homerooms each elected two representatives
and an alternate to serve on the council. Class representatives and alternates,
respectively, are:
Imair Ornelas, Disiree Lara and Mark Lyles (Martha Ricketson's homeroom);
Bill Moody, Deannady Herrera and Candice Moore (Betty Cook); Jonathan Garcia,
Amber Baeza, Shelly Martinez (Pam Miller); Ashley Orona, Joe Rudy Rodriguez,
Jasmine Solis (Oscar Guerrero); Thomas Paz, Ashley Dunn, Christina Ortiz
(Carolyn Bynum); Luke Lindsey, Kimberly Chavez, Soraida Samaguey (Jeanne
Holt); Andrea Medrano, Bianca Guerrero, Stephanie Mendoza (Criselda Armenta);
Heather Hignojos, Johnny Morales, Luis Licon (Becky Wein); Vanessa Metcalf,
Eddie Vela, Jonathan Rubio (Rebecca Jeffries); Amanda Contreras, Amanda
Espudo, Samantha Urias (Jesus Prieto).
Student Council officers and representatives will help organize and
present Lamar's fun nights and other student projects and activities. The
first such activity will be a fundraiser, at the Reeves County Fall Fair,
where the student council will have a booth to sell cokes.
Pancake breakfast planned
An "all you can eat" pancake breakfast will be held from 7 a.m. until 10
a.m., Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Reeves County Fair.
The breakfast will consist of pancakes, sausage, choice of coffee, milk
or juice, for $5.
The event is sponsored by the Pecos Rotary Club.
