Vacation Bible School set
Children age 4 through eighth grade are invited to Vacation Bible
School at West Park Baptist Church, Sixth and Eddy Streets, July 26-30.
Classes are from 8:30-11:30 a.m., with Bible story videos for earlybirds
and supervision until noon for late leavers.
Parents are invited to a program/luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Friday. Following
a performance by the children to show what they learned about the Bible
and related songs, hot dogs, hamburgers and homemade ice cream will be
served.
UTPB expands programs offered
The opportunities to earn a specialized master's degre are increasing
thanks to a partnership between The Univesity of Texas of the Permian Basin
and Angelo State University that expands distance learning offerings.
The 1999 fall semester will makr the beginning of a new master's program
in public administration through Angelo State University. Under the joint
arrangement, UT Permian Basin offers its master's in criminal justice administration
to San Angelo and ASU offers the MPA to the permian Basin via interactive
television.
Admissions requirements vary on the degree programs, depending on which
institution offers the degree. The Graduate Studies Office at UT Permian
Basin will accept applications for the master's in criminal justice and
the Graduate School at Angelo State will accept applications for the MPA.
The Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration: In
this 36-hour program, students will earn a master of science degree in
criminal justice administration from UT Permian Basin. Students may select
from either a thesis or non-thesis option in courses designed to accomodate
the needs of part-time students employed in full-time positions.
Currently, the program offers two interactive video courses between
UT Permian Basin and the Angelo State University campus in San Angelo.

Permian Basin Graduate Studies Office by calling 915-552-2530.
Master of Public Administration Degree: The Angelo State University
masters program in public administration is a 36 semester credit hour program
designed for those interested in public service careers with government
agencies, with non-profit community service organizations, or with private
corporations that deal extensively with governmental officials and agencies.
Bafidis' tell of new daughter
Alfonso and Melissa Bafidis, of San Antonio, announce the birth of their
daughter, Alyssa Bella Bafidis.
Little Alyssa was born at 1:25 p.m., June 12, at Methodist Hospital
in San Antonio.
She weighed six pounds, seven ounces and was 20 inches long at birth.
She was welcomed home by her two brothers, Cory Andrew and Alfonso Bafidis,
IV.
Maternal grandmother is Lala Meador of Brownfield.
Paternal grandmother is Linda Bafidis of Pecos.
