Nichols named to Dean's List
Schreiner College has named a student from Pecos to its President's List.
Liza Nichols, daughter of Salvador and Estella Nichols, was named to
the roster of high-achieving students for the Spring 1999 term.
To qualify for the President's List, full-time students must have passing
grades in all classes, must earn at least 3.6 grade point average, and
have at least 12 hours' credit for the term.
Schreiner College is a small, primarily residential liberal arts college
in Kerrville, with a current enrollment of about 750. The school is affiliated
with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
Orona receives student of year award
Micheal Ryan Orona, a student at Zavala Middle School, has received the
student of the year award in Academic Aces.
He participated in sports such as basketball and tennis.
Orona also participated in U.I.L. Math and in band.
Grades, conduct and extra-curricular activities, and most important,
making the honor roll every six weeks to be even an option for this award,
took place in his achievement.
The United States Achievement announced that Micheal Orona from Pecos,
has been named an All-American Scholar.
Orona will appear in the All-American Scholar Yearbook, which is published
nationally.
