Balmorhea places at recent UIL meet
Balmorhea's number sense contestants placed at a UIL Academic Meet in Alpine
recently.
The fourth grade number sense team brought home first and third with
Brandon Mendoza taking first place and Ryan Woodruff placing third.
The fifth grade number sense team took first, second and sixth with
Edgar Rodriguez taking first, J.B. Moore placing second and Jaime Gallego
placing sixth.
The sixth grade number sense team took first, second, and third, with
JoGina Gallego taking first, James Tarin placing second, and Lorissa Rodriguez
placing third.
In sixth grade mathematics, a new event this year, Balmorhea took first,
second and third. JoGina Gallego took first, Lorissa Rodriguez placed second
and James Tarin placed third.
Area schools that participated in the UIL meet were Ft. Davis, Alpine,
Marathon, Marfa, San Vincente, Valentine, Van Horn, Sanderson and Balmorhea.
Balmorhea math teacher and number sense coach Lee Renz stated that his
teams are already looking forward to next year's competition.
