Natividad completes training

Army Spec. Ismael B. Natividad has graduated from One
Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Knox, Ky. The training
included basic military training and advanced individual
training (AIT).

The first eight weeks of initial entry training (IET)
included basic combat training, drill and ceremonies,
weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military
justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history and
traditions.

During AIT, the soldier was trained as an armor crewman to
serve in tank units and conduct defensive and offensive
combat operations. The trainee was instructed to operate,
service and maintain armor tracked and wheeled vehicles,
load and fire tank weapon systems, perform ammunition
handling and supply duties, and assist in target detection
and identification.

Natividad is the son of Ruben and Margarita Natividad of
Pecos.

He is a 1992 graduate of Pecos High School, and a 1998
graduate of the University of Texas, Austin.

OC schedules weekend college

People interested in attending any of the six sessions of
Odessa College's weekend classes this spring may enroll
during spring registration Jan. 12-14 or late registration
Jan. 19-25.

Additional registration times for Weekend College Session B
will be Jan. 27-28 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and Jan. 29 from 8:30
a.m. until 4 p.m. Session D additional registration will be
Mar. 17-18 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and Mar. 19 from 8:30 a.m.-4
p.m.

In Weekend College, courses parallel those offered in the
regular term except that they are compressed into a shorter
time span. Full academic recognition is given these courses,
and the time spent and the credit earned is equivalent to
that of a regular session.

Classes offered will be Survey of British Literature II, US
History from 1877, Applied Psychology, Public Speaking, CLA
Review, Introduction to Psychology, Intro to Computer
Systems, Basic Computer-Aided Drafing and Conversational
Spanish I.

Students should consult the 1999 Odessa College Spring
Schedule of Credit Classes for exact dates and times of
classes and courses offerings in each session.

New students - those who have never attended Odessa College
including transfer students from other colleges and
universities - must contact the admissions office in the
Student Union Building, Room 107, or at 915-335-6432 before
registering. They should bring an official transcript of the
schools previously attended, and Texas-resident students
must provide documentation of Texas residency for the 12
months prior to enrollment to avoid paying the non-resident
tuition rate.
