Crawford chosen for Lariettes group

The Lariettes, an award winning dance and drill team, from Westfield High School in Houston, Texas was proud to announce the 2003-2004 young ladies who diligently practiced before trying out and making the team.

The purpose of the Lariettes is to promote school spirit, to set academic and behavioral examples for fellow students, to perform at school sponsored activities, and represent the high standard of Westfield High School.

Among the young ladies chosen for the Lariettes is Diana Angelica Crawford, a sophomore, who transferred from Pecos to Westfield High School during the Spring semester of 2003.

Ms. Crawford is the daughter of L.G. and Diana Mendoza-Crawford from Houston. Maternal grandparents are Pecos residents, Marcos and Georgia Espinosa-Mendoza.

Study club plans meeting

The Modern Study Club will meet at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, in the parlor of the First Christian Church, 423 S. Elm, for a Home Life Department Program, which was planned by Etta Sullivan, Home Life Chairman.

The thought-quote for the program is "And he lifted up his eyes and saw the women and the children, and He said, Who are those with thee? And he said, "The children which God has graciously given thy servant." Genesis 33:5 King James Version, Holy Bible.

Iris Reddick will present the program entitled, "Child Abuse Through the Ages," a study which she has researched.

Roll call will be answered by replying to the question, "What are the individual citizen's responsibilities concerning child abuse?"

Catherine Travland and Shirley Shaffer will share hostess duties for the gathering.
