Valerio selected as Officer of theMonth

The Reeves County to announce that Veronica Valerio, of Fort Davis, has been selected as Correctional Officer of the Month for January.

Valerio is a 1996 graduate of Balmorhea High School in Balmorhea and enjoys listening to music, reading, traveling and spending time with her son. She is a single parent and the proud mother of one son.

Officer Valerio plans to go back to school and study criminal law, to further her career in law enforcement.

She began her employment with the Reeves County Detention Center on Aug. 21, 2002 and was promoted to Correctional Officer II on Dec. 22, 2001. On July 6, 2002, Valerio advanced to Correctional Officer III.

Her willingness to accept additional responsibilities and her determination to succeed has earned her this award, according to RCDC Warden Rudy Franco.

As a Correctional Officer, Valerio's primary responsibility is to maintain security and control of the institution.

"She has continuously executed this responsibility in the highest respect, and has always taken great pride in her position with the Reeves County Detention Center," said Franco. "Officer Valerio has proven to be an effective leader and mentor to all new staff assigned to the Custody Department," he said.

"Her understanding of all posts pertaining to custody has been a tremendous asset in the training of new staff members," said Franco. "Her dedication to the Reeves County Detention Center is outstanding," he said.

"It is a pleasure to be associated with an individual such as Officer Valerio, who exhibits such professionalism," said Franco. "We wish her continued success in her career with the Reeves County Detention Center," he said.
