Eisenberg receives ROTC training

Rachelle A. Eisenberg has received an Army ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) four-year college scholarship at New Mexico State University, Las Cruces.

Acceptance of the scholarship signifies the cadet's desire to be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army after graduating from the university and completing the ROTC program. ROTC cadets receive military leadership training to serve with distinction as an officer in the Army, both in and out of uniform.

The four-year scholarships are awarded through a highly competitive national selection process, and pay up to $16,000 a year for tuition and education fees, book allowance, and a tax-free monthly subsistence allowance of $200 a month for up to 10 months during the effective scholarship period.

ROTC scholarship graduates incur an eight year military service obligation in the Army, which can be served either on active duty and/or in the reserve components.

She is the daughter of Karen S. Eisenberg of Pecos.

The cadet is a 2002 graduate of Pecos High School.
