Pecos netters win awards at tournament in Odessa
Two Pecos tennis players came home with trophies from tournament play
this past weekend in Odessa, Pecos Eagles' tennis coach Mike Ortiz said on
Monday.
High school tennis player Trent Graham came away with first place in the
boys 16 and under division. Graham defeated Wade Morgan in the tournament
finals, Ortiz said. The other Pecos netter to earn an award was junior high
netter Dina Ortiz, who took second place in the 14 and under girls singles.
This weekend, the Pecos Cantaloupe Tennis Tournament is being held at
the Pecos High School tennis courts, with the deadline for registration today.
Entry fee is $8 per player for each event and the tournament will have both
youth and adult divisions in singles, doubles and mixed doubles.
Play will begin at 8 a.m. on Friday and at 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Awards will be given to first and second place finishers along with consolation
bracket winners.
