Museum gives out art festival awards
The West of the Pecos Museum recently handed out awards for the 15th
Annual Student Art Festival.
Numerous school students entered various works of art in the festival,
all of which were displayed at the Museum.
Awards were given to the top three finishers in each grade as well as
three honorable mentions in each grade.
Marissa Tarango received first place in the first grade division with
Catarina Hinojos and Vicente Munoz taking second and third. Jesus Rayos,
Marilyn Navarette and Autumn Harris received honorable mentions.
In second grade, Josie Paz received first place. Jasmine Mendoza and
Julio Hernandez received second and third while Victoria Corrales, Larry
Martinez and Victoria Garcia received honorable mentions.
Carlos Navarro placed first in the third grade division while Tatum
Windham and Carissa Cerna placed second and third. John Tarin, Jasmine
Tarin and Ashley Brown received honorable mentions.
Samuel Sandoval received first place in the fourth grade division while
Pedro Reyes and Lizzy Lujan placed second and third. Rojelio Alvarado,
Adilene Acosta and Richard Dutchover received honorable mentions.
In the fifth grade division, Brian Carrasco placed first while Everett
Parker and Paul Zubeldia placed second and third. Sarah Cross, Brittanie
Rodriguez and Claire Weinacht received honorable mentions.
Marcus Luna received first place in the sixth grade division while Cheyanne
Carrasco and Amanda Herrera placed second and third. Kim Chabarria, Matthew
Florez and Israel Villescas received honorable mentions.
Mother's Day luncheon planned
A Mother's Day Luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., Sunday,
May 12, at St. Catherine Parish Hall.
Lunch will be $5 for adults and $3 for children under 10 and under.
Proceeds will benefit the World Youth Day participants.
