Phillips speaks at ladies luncheon in Pecos

Oleta Phillips of College Station was the featured speaker at a Ladies Luncheon, held recently for ladies of the 4th and Bois D'Arc Church of Christ and their guests, in the home of Louise Taylor of Pecos. Mary Taylor, Debbie Taylor and Melissa Box were among those assisting as hostesses.

Mrs. Phillips used a projector and visual aids to make suggestions and analogies as to how to approach people as one strives to be a servant of the Lord. As she spoke she incorporated Bible scriptures along with her own experiences into her speech. Following an interesting and informative presentation Rayann Box and Autumn Harris passed out pamphlets Mrs. Phillips had prepared for those in attendance. The first was entitled, "Our Thinking verses God's Promises," and presented the analogy of a person's doubts and short comings as a human being verses the Promises of God, giving support scriptures. The second hand-out was entitled "ACTS taken from The Power of Positive Mom" by Karol Ladd, Howard Publishing Co.

ACTS concerns a person's prayer life with "A" standing for Adoration, "C" representing Confession, "T" standing for Thanksgiving, and "S" representing Supplication.

There was forty in attendance for the luncheon.

The Phillips' have been in Pecos on numerous occasions for him to conduct Gospel meetings at the Church of Christ, 4th and Bois D'Arc Streets. She has also spoken previously for ladies luncheons in Pecos.
