Barron celebrates fourth birthday
Jennifer Ann Barron celebrated her fourth birthday on Saturday, Feb.
2, at her residence.
All her family was on hand to help her celebrate the special occasion.
Theme for the event was Stars.
Her favorite gifts were a Birthday Barbie given to her by her uncles,
Miguel and Victor; a rocket top given to her by her parents and some color
books given to her by Jackie.
Jennifer was born on Feb. 2, 1998 and is the daughter of Danny and Anna
Barron.
Maternal grandfather is Felix Lara of Midland and paternal grandparents
are Elvia and Jim Barron.
Harrison named to Dean's List
West Texas A&M University has named more than 1,100 students to honor
lists for the fall 2001 semester. Of that total, 321 were named to the President's
List and 873 students were named to the Dean's List.
Students named to the President's List must have a grade point average
(GPA) of 3.85 or better on a 4.0 scale and carry a minimum class load of
12 undergraduate hours.
Those named to the Dean's List must have a GPA between 3.25 and 3.85 and
carry a minimum of 12 undergraduate hours.
Area honors were given to Brandi K. Harrison, a sophomore who is a Pre-Vet
Medicine student.
Enchilada plate sale set
An Enchilada Plate Sale will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., Sunday,
Feb. 17, at Santa Rosa Hall, 600 E. 3rd.
Deliveries will be made.
To order call on Sunday at 445-2302.
The funds will benefit the group that will be traveling to El Paso for
the ministry.
Study club plans meeting
The Modern Study Club will meet at 3:30 p.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 13, in
the parlor of the First Christian Church, 423 S. Elm for a Home Life Department
Program with Doris Moorman, Department Chairman, in charge.
Heather MacNeil, RN, of the American Home Health Services will speak concerning
Osteoporosis.
President Catherine Travland will appoint a nominating committee for the
selection of 2002-2004 officers.
Projects for this bi-monthly meeting are to contribute to the Texas Federation
of Women's Club Scholarship Funds and to support the Western District of
TFWC Standing Rules.
Hostesses for the meeting are Nan Cate, Paula Fuller and Tessie Cam.
"Osteoporosis is a pediatric disease with geriatric consequences. While
the symptoms may not show until a woman is older, the root of the problem
may stretch over her entire lifetime." _ National Women's Health Information
Center.
Roll call will be answered by telling something we should do to improve
our chances of preventing osteoporosis.
