Science Fair  winners named

Bessie Haynes Elementary School, fourth and fifth grades, held a Science Fair, on Tuesday, Feb. 5 and announced the winners.

In Life Science, Bryan Navarette placed first with "Can A Plant Grow Without Soil?"; second place went to Lee Anne Saenz _ The Five Senses; and third place winner was Roman McCartney and Joseph Magallanes _ The Naked Egg.

Honorable Mention in this category went to Alicia Alexander _ Plant Processing.

Physics Category winners were Joseph Rodriguez _ 1950 Sierra Club Scout Electric Motor; second place, Isaiah Mendoza _ The Electra Projector and third place, Ruben Cervantes _ G-Force.

Honorable Mention went to Ismael Mendoza and Antonio Reyes.

Paul Zubeldia placed first in the Chemistry Category with Copperplating a Key; second place, Bailey Hernandez _ Parting the Waters and third place, Everett Parker _ Extinguishing A Flame.

Honorable Mention, Jonathan Rodriguez _ Mission Impossible.

In Social and Behavioral Sciences: first place was Lyndsay Chowning _ Logical Music; second place, Joseph Ontiveros _ Video Games with a Beat; and third place, Bianca Levario and Marisol Martinez _ Taste Buds.

Honorable Mention _ Nina Cerna with Rainbow Cheese.

Earth and Space Science: first place, Eric Salcido _ Stalagmites and Stalagtites; second place Lucas Chavez _ "A Cloud Chamber" and third place, Yadira Mendoza _ Split a Stone.

Honorable Mention _ Brian Hernandez _ Twinkling Starlight.

Environmental Science winners included, first place, Josh Elliott _ The Comparison of Hard and Soft Water; second place, Gabriella Garcia _ "The Paper Chromatography Butterfly"; and third place, Syndi Hernandez _ "Heads or Tails."

Honorable Mention _ Sarah Cross _ The Effect of Sugar, Caffeine and Carbonated Water.

Alzheimer's group plans monthly meeting

The Greater West Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association will hold a Pecos Daytime Support Group meeting at 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 14, at the Reeves County Hospital classroom.

Topic will be "The Forgetting" book review.

Everyone is invited to attend.
