Barreno ends basic training
Air Force Airman 1st Class Marco A. Barreno, Jr. has graduated
from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission,
organization, and customs and received special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward
an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Barreno is the son of Debra Martinez of Pecos.
He is a 2000 graduate of Pecos High School.
Reynolds competes in Malibu festival
Randall Reynolds, a 2001 Pecos High School graduate and former member of
the Pecos Eagle Swim Team under Coach Terri Morse, competed in the 11th
Annual Dolphin Run Festival held in Malibu, Calif., on Oct. 13 and Oct.
14.
This annual event benefits Big Brothers of Greater Los Angeles, Children's
Lifesaving Foundation and Tracy Clarke Scholarship Fund.
Reynolds competed in the ½ mile ocean swim at Malibu's Zuma Beach
and received a medal after placing first in his age group.
Reynolds enjoyed the swim and meeting Olympic Champion Lenny Krazelburg
at the event.
He attends Pepperdine University in Malibu and has been training with
the Santa Monica Swim Club.
Middle school sets parenting class
Crockett Middle School invites all parents to a Parenting Skills Class
scheduled for 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29, in the school cafeteria.
The event will be presented by High Sky Children's Ranch.
"Anger Management" will be one of the topics to be discussed.
