White named assistant at WTSS
John White, a veteran of the Texas Youth Commission, has been selected
as the new Assistant Superintendent at West Texas State School, according
to WTSS Superintendent Lemuel Harrison.
White has been the Superintendent at Schaeffer Halfway House in El Paso
since 1994. During his 23 years with the Texas Youth Commission, he has held
various other positions.
He was a Title IV-E Case Analyst in Central Office, served as a Program
Administrator, Casework Supervisor and Assistant Director of Campus Life
while in the Wilderness Camping Program at Crockett.
Prior to coming to the Texas Youth Commission, he was a supervisor for
five years with the Los Angeles County, California Probation Department's
maximum security juvenile correctional facility.
White has a Bachelor of Psychology degree from California State University
in Northridge, Ca.
