Wall, Chavez announce Las Vegas wedding plans

Mr. and Mrs. Robbin Wall and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Chavez, Sr. are announcing the engagement and approaching marriage of their children, Randi Nicole Wall and Roger Chavez, Jr.

The couple will be married on July 28, in Las Vegas.

The bride to be graduated from the University of Texas in Austin in May 2000 with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and currently works as a counselor for Connections Individual and Family Services in Bastrop.

The future groom will graduate from the University of Texas in December with a Liberal Arts Degree. He is employed as an Assistant Director for The Children's Courtyard in Austin.

The couple plans to reside in Austin.
 

Geltemeyer receives medical degree

Abby M. Geltemeyer was among 185 students who received degrees of completion May 26 from the School of Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch.

Geltemeyer, who was awarded a doctor of medicine degree, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Geltemeyer of Midland. She is a 1993 graduate of Midland High School and also attended Baylor University in Waco.

UBMB was established in 1891 and is the oldest academic health sciences center in Texas. In addition to the School of Medicine, it includes the School of Nursing, School of Allied Health Sciences, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, the Institute for the Medical Humanities and the Marine Biomedical Institute.

The UTMB School of Medicine is the oldest medical school in the state and among the largest nationally in enrollment. It functioned as the state's only medical school until 1949.
