Little League announces All-Star picks
All-Star teams for the Pecos Little League's `A' and `B' divisions were
announced this past Friday, with District 4 Tournament play for the 9-10
and 11-12 year old squads set to begin in early July.
Schedules and pairings for this year's tournament won't be decided until
this Saturday, when District 4 officials meet in San Angelo. Winners of the
double-elimination tournament will advance to sub-sectional competition later
in July.
Pecos won the District 4 title in the 11-12 year old division in 2000.
Three players from that team return this season: Chris Garnto, Lee Roy Rodriguez
and Rocky Losoya. The other players on the team are Aaron Galindo, Kenny
Rayos, Diana Parada, Josh Payan, Richie Licon, Joe Villalobos, Vincent Palomino,
Jessie Hanks and Gerald Saenz.
Palomino, Saenz, Parada and Villalobos were members of the 9-10 year old
All-Star team last year. That team has one player back from a year ago, in
Timo Reyes, while the remainder of the squad is made up of Salvador Baez,
Lucas Chavez, James Garcia, Tony Reyes, Jr., Dane Daniel, Linvel Mosby III,
Austin Grubbs, Nathan Duke, Isabel Baeza, Paul Zubeldia and Kevin Herrera.
The 9-10 year olds finished second to San Angelo Northern in last year's
District 4 tournament.
LaVaughn Garnto and Pete Garcia return as manager and coach for the 11-12
year old team, while Moises Arenivas is the manager of the 9-10 year olds,
with Richard Chavez as coach and Kevin Duke as business manager.
