Golden Girl Nominee

Desirae Tercero

Desirae Tercero, is the 17-year-old daughter, of Beatrice Matta.

She is sponsored by La Fiesta, Bianca's Dry Gulch, Popular Thriftway and Desert Rentals.

Miss Tercero is a member of the Latin Club and was named to Who's Who Among American High School Students.

She enjoys singing and dancing.

Miss Tercero plans to obtain a degree in the medical field, following high school graduation.

"I enjoy helping people when help is needed and also participate in many activities," said Tercero.

Rich, Stapleton announce June wedding plans

Roy and Deborah Rich, of Pecos, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Cheryl Ree Rich to Scott Warren Stapleton.

The groom to be is the son of Sondra and Sonny Mobley, of Marble Falls and Ronnie and Georgia Stapleton of Fort Worth.

He is a 1994 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Midland, received a Bachelor of Business degree from Angelo State University and a Masters of Business Administration Degree in 2000. He is currently employed as a pharmaceuticals representative for Novartis.

The future bride is a 1993 graduate of Pecos High School, received a Bachelor's of Science degree in 1997 from Howard Payne University and a Master's Degree in psychology from Angelo State University. She is currently employed with Wright, Smith and Associates, a psychologist's office.

She is the granddaughter of Harlan and Edna Stanton of Pecos.

The couple plan to wed at 7 p.m., Saturday, June 23, in San Angelo and make their home in Midland.

Recreation department sponsors boxing

Reeves County Community Sports and Recreation Department is now enrolling children a beginners boxing techniques class, which will meet two days a week for six weeks.

Parents of children between the ages of eight through 15 years who are interested may pick up enrollment forms at the recreation office during regular hours.

Entry deadline is July 6 and parents need to bring birth certificate and both parents' signature.

Cost is $10 per child.
