UIL contestants place at meet
Balmorhea's number sense and mathematics contestants placed at a UIL Academic
Meet in Balmorhea recently.
The fourth grade number sense team placed first, second and third with
Jalonnie Sanchez taking first place, Leo Jasso placing second, and Kyle Wardlaw
placing third. Alternate Donna Balderas placed fifth.
In fifth grade number sense Rodney Fuentes and Harry Barron tied for first
place and Sean Enloe placed fifth.
The sixth grade number sense team took fourth and fifth with Timothy Jasso
placing fourth and Jose Rodriguez placing fifth.
The sixth grade mathematics team took fourth, fifth and sixth with Vance
Mondragon taking fourth, Jose Rodriguez taking fifth, and Timothy Jasso taking
sixth.
Area schools that participated in the UIL meet were Buena Vista, Grandfalls,
Sanderson and Balmorhea.
Balmorhea math teacher and number sense coach, Lee Renz, stated that his
teams are already looking forward to next year's competition.
Harbour to celebrate third birthday
Jana Harbour of Balmorhea will be celebrating her third birthday on June
19 with family and friends on hand.
She is the daughter of Jay T. and Darla J. Harbour of Balmorhea.
Pictured with Jana is her baby goat, named Seventeen, and she calls him
her baby.
Seventeen was found at about two weeks old on Highway 17, starving to
death. Jana has bottle fed him and he is as healthy as ever now.
Proud grandparents are James and Janice Harbour of Fort Stockton.
Church plans Vacation Bible School
The Church of Christ, located at 4th and Bois D'Arc Streets,
will be holding their Vacation Bible School, June 4-7, Monday through Thursday
evenings 7-9 p.m. at their facilities at 1321 W. 4th.
The theme is, "Jesus, the Greatest Storyteller" with classes being held
for children ages three to 8th grade.
Specific stories to be studied include, "The Wise and Foolish Builders,"
"The Marvelous Treasurer Hidden In A Field," "The Boy Who Ran Away From Home,"
"The Kind Stranger" and "The Shepherd Who Lost a Sheep."
All youngsters are welcome and urged to attend this educational, fun-filled
Vacation Bible School.
