Study club plans meeting

PECOS, March 26, 2001 - The Modern Study Club will meet at 8 a.m., Wednesday, March 28, at the First Baptist Church to car pool for a field trip to the Chihuahuan Desert Research Center, located four miles out of Fort Davis, for a Conservation Department Program.

Etta Sullivan, Department Chairman, planned the meeting and is in charge of the outing. The tour will be followed by a dutch-treat luncheon in Fort Davis.

The thought-quote for the gathering is _ "The conservation of natural resources is, and has been for half a century, the paramount domestic issue before the American people." _ Henry Steele Commager.

The business meeting will be held in the rural home of Nan and Al Cate of Verhalen with Paula Fuller joining Cate with hostess duties.

Roll call is to be answered by naming a native plant one would find in the Chihuahuan Desert.

The club's bi-monthly project emphasis for this meeting is their involvement in various community projects.
