Fuentes celebrates 90th birthday
Jose Orona Fuentes celebrated his 90th birthday on Feb. 7.
He started his day early that morning with a haircut by Lee Ryan at Ryan's
Barber Shop. "I was so excited to take my grandfather for a haircut! He probably
took me many a time to get mine cut," said Daniel Tarango, his grandson from
Denver, Colo.
"I'm 37 years old and can't imagine what it would be like to be 90 years
old," said Tarango.
Later that afternoon, Fuentes celebrated his 90th triumph with
a house birthday party in Green Acres. He had visitors from as far away as
Vallejo, California (northern) and Denver, Colo.
Fuentes was a cotton farmer, originally from Balmorhea, and also worked
for what was once called, the Texas Highway Department, for 35 years.
He says he has had a long life life due to no smoking, no drinking and
eating the right kinds of food.
He has three daughters, three sons and 15 grandchildren.
