Registration for Odessa College

Registration for Odessa College's Summer I session will be held from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Tuesday through Wednesday, May 23-24. Students also may register early for Summer II and fall classes.

The enrollment process will start at the registration tent adjacent to the Student Union Building.

Students are encouraged to apply for financial aid, which is still available for summer and fall classes.

For more information, call the Odessa College Admissions Office at 335-6432 from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday during the summer or visit the Odessa College web page at http://www.odessa.edu.

Baeza selected as employee of month

Anthony Baeza has been selected as Employee of the Month for April, at the Reeves County Detention Center.

Baeza has been employed at the Reeves County Detention Center since Jan. 16, 1996.

He started as a Correctional Officer, then as Commissary Assistant and in March of 1999 was promoted to Case Manager.

Baeza assists as coordinator and liaison with the U.S. Parole Commission, US. Probation Service and the Federal Courts. He monitors unit classification teams to ensure they are effectively conducted.

He also monitors the Inmate Responsibility Financial Program to ensure compliance with policy requirements. He assists with the Central Inmate Monitoring Program at the institution level.

He provides direction, technical expertise, and ensures proper application of polity.

Baeza has daily contact with inmates and assists them with any problems that arise. His communication skills with staff and inmates are outstanding, he is an experienced Case Manager who shows leadership and initiative and does well at any task that is presented to him, according to Reeves County Detention Center Warden Rudy Franco.

He is also a member of the Disturbance Control Team.

Baeza demonstrated his outstanding CPR skills on Feb. 11, when he encountered a medical emergency while in the Special Housing Unit. He again demonstrated his professional abilities on Feb. 23, during an unexpected inspection from the Texas Commission of Jail Standards, according to Franco.

Baeza is married to Jennifer and is the proud father of a son and a daughter.

"We are extremely prod of Baeza and his contributions to Reeves County Detention Center, we congratulate him on an outstanding job and wish him the best in his career at the institution," said Franco.
