Subject: Mega Reunion
Date: Tue, 11 Sep 2001 01:05:23 EDT
From: GKL50@aol.com

Hello Classmates:

I've been sitting here reading the wonderful comments about the Mega Class Reunion. Michael and I would just like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who attended the reunion in Grapevine, Tx. The reunion would never have been possible or such a success without all of you.

When Michael and I start planning the reunion over two years ago, everyone thought we were crazy and would never pull it off. Well guess we showed all of you. HA! HA! In all honesty we had our doubts from time to time. With everyone's help, it way surpass our wildest dreams. I don't think I've ever had a better time or felt such deep emotions while reliving those wonderful years in Pecos.

We hope that those of you who were unable to attend this reunion will plan to make the next one, I promise you will never regret it. I can tell you that you were definitely missed by your fellow classmates.

I would like to personally thank Michael for working with me on the reunion, I couldn't have enjoyed working with anyone more. You know Michael, never a dull moment.

Also, someone left an year book from the 50's at the Friday event. I brought it home with me. If the year book belongs to you, please email me at GKL50@aol.com, identify it and I will be gald to mail it to you.

I will be working on a new web site in the weeks to come and will send out information to everyone we've heard from. Please pass the information onto friends when you get it. The old reunion web site will be deleted when the new site is on line.

Thanks again to Joy (Brown) Ray and the Enterprise for giving us all a chance to revisit old friends. Our reunion thoughts started with this web site.

Thanks again for your wonderful comments and your support. Can't wait to see all of you in Grapevine in 2003.

Glynda (Kilgore) Leger Class 1966 GKL50@aol.com

From: Steamindmn@aol.com

I arrived in Dallas on Thursday and saw a very familiar face in the lobby of the hotel and as we stood there talking, others began to walk by with that look on their faces, I might know that person. Just the mention of Pecos and it wasn`t long before there were over twenty of us standing there with an energy that I haven`t seen since growing up in Pecos. The lobby was the unofficial meeting place every morning and moved on into the restaurant or bar as they opened. There was a life about the hotel that was growing and it kept growing until Sunday evening when it slowly started to fade with the absence of the people that kept it alive. By Monday morning, it had faded to a mere breath of the life that it was two days before and by evening it had an air of loneliness that only a hotel lobby can have. The familiar faces were gone but there was still family in the area to visit and enjoy company with. Oh, but I missed those familiar faces that I hadn`t seen for 40 years and wondered so many, many times about where they were and how they were doing. It was great seeing them together, acting as though it was Pecos all over again, as though they had just finished a hard won football game or other sporting event and it was time to gather and celebrate. By Tuesday morning when I left, the hotel had no life but the desk clerk said that it was exciting, seeing all of the activity there through the weekend and that we must have all lived in a great place to be able to enjoy each other so much. She was right! Thank you Glynda and Michael for putting this all together so that we might put our lives on hold and enter into the time of friendship and memories that could only have been possible in a great place like Pecos. It was a special place as well as a special time to have given the world so many good, productive people from such a small community. I think that we were very fortunate to have grown up during those times and in Pecos. Those that were unable to attend, please, try to make it to the next one since you were missed, even though you might not think so. Everyone from each of the different classes were a part of everyone else`s lives and your presence will make the gathering of friends more complete. We all hope to see you next time. Thanks to Mike and Glynda for a great time, my hat is off to you for the superb planning job you both did in putting this great event together. We had a great time meeting a lot of old friends from all the classes being from the "Class of 63" enabled us to know many of you, and then my brother Wayne being from the "Class of 57" I wish he could have been alive to have enjoyed it, thanks for the kind words from so many of you from 1957 concerning Wayne's passing. There were many missed who have gone on to be with our Lord, but they were felt, thanks for the memorial. I had a blast sorry so many missed it! Margaret and I are looking for ward to 2003! Thanks to all of you for the birthday cake, that was great, I am still eating it, where were all the gifts, Glynda slipped up there, I'll let her slide this time, just think if everyone had brought one........WOW! Maybe next time. We hated to see it end. until next time! Ronnie & Margaret Doggett

Sorry its taken me so long to write! I've been this whole week recuperating from the Labor Day weekend! If you were there, no one needs to tell you how fantastic it was! If you weren't, you just missed the best party in years! We had so much fun! It was a hoot! I cannot wait for the next one. Our class of 1965 wants to incorporate our 40th with the next mega reunion! I cannot begin to tell you how great it was to see everyone, what a blast we all had, how great the facilities were, how well organized and beautifully run the whole show was. We all owe Glynda and Mike such a debt of gratitude! Glynda is the epitome of organization and Mike has become quite a talented stand up comic. What a sweet, wonderful, friendly, fun-loving bunch of people!!! Thanks for terrific time, I will send in my pictures as soon as they're developed.

I've got a feeling the next reunion in Grapevine is going to be a heck of a party. 2003 reunion is already in the making. If you didn't get to this one, you won't want to miss the next one. The reunion party could be compared favorably to the 4th of July at the Posse Barn, and the planning that went into this one was impeccable. Several have already written about how much fun this one was, and here's another. If any of you know Anne and Mary Bechtel, ask them how many drinks the Ballerina had ,And then ask Bobby Bowlin if Vicki thinks he is really a "Hot Dog". You will no doubt then realize the fun that was had. I laughed till my sides hurt, danced a bunch, got to see many old friends ( no pun intended) it seems we all got older, got to talk with Mr. Matthews, who I haven't seen since the 8th grade when he was Principal. On and on I could go. If you get an e-mail from someone about the next one, start planning now. 2003 will be a blast. It's like Michael Hartmann told Glenda Kilgore, you don't have to be invited to a school reunion, your supposed to just show up.

It would be easy to go on for many pages about the good times so many good friends had in Dallas last weekend. The reunion was a blast. Of course we all had lots of memories to re-live and years of catching up to do but it was more than just reminiscing - we all discovered new things about our friends. It was almost like meeting new friends with whom we already have much in common and we started new adventures hearing about the things they do and the places they live and the way life has unfolded for them since we first met. It will be great to see them again in two years. It was so much fun that there will surely be many more attending the next one as word gets out. Thanks for the great time Mike and Glynda and all of you who came.

I would like to add my thanks and congratulations to Glynda and Mike for a job well done. Everyone I talked to seemed to have enjoyed the weekend very much and are looking forward to the next one in two years. The number of people there, around 250, would have been almost impossible to assemble without the use of the internet in general, and the Pecos Gab site in particular. So we also have to thank Joy (Brown) and Peggy, as well as Jim Ivy for his sponsorship of the site. Thanks to all who made this possible. James P. (Jimmy) Smith Houston

I certainly echo David Bowers sentiments concerning the recent PHS reunion held in Dallas. Michael and Glenda did a great job and the facilities they chose were excellent. Being in the class of 1961 enabled me to know many of the people that attended. Some had not changed much and many of us had, lol. Great weekend and look forward to the next one in two years. For those of you who graduated in 1961 and didnt attend, shame on you. For those who did, thanks, it was great talking about old times.

Hey guys, just remember, I had a hole in my heart and underwent open heart surgery so be nice!! Michael Hartman is one of the best speakers I have heard in a long time! Glynda is quite the organizer. For all of those who could not attend the 50's and 60's reunion in Dallas and for those who chose not to attend, you missed something special. Roy and I were fortunate to be able to attend and we had a truly wonderful time. The next reunion is planned for two years from now. There were some who chose not to come and their excuse was that they didn't like their classmates while they were in school, why would they want to see them now. You weren't missed. Those who wanted to come but had other obligations, you have two years to plan ahead. Thank you again and again, Michael Hartman and Glynda Leger, and others involved in this fun weekend of laughter, old memories, and new ones. Reita Moody Prewit

Hi everyone. Just wnated to let you know that if you didn't make the 50's, 60's 70's reunion, you missed out on a MAJOR event. We had a blast and Mike Hartman and Glenda Kilgore did and OUTSTANDING job of organizing the event.!! Mike just needs to learn whom is married to whom (private joke). It was nice to see faces that I, myself, haven't seen since I was in the 7th grade. Alot of great people were there, such as Coach Garland Matthews, for example. I think plans are already in the making for another such reunion in 2003. Now you know, so start making YOUR plans to attend. There will be a new Pecos High School web site in the very near future with all the details of the next one, and I'm sure, photos of this one. Keep an eye out for it. Bobby Bowlin (Class of 66)

The Pecos High Reunion went great, everyone had a lot of fun, 250 people showed up and we are going to have another one in two years and hope that many more can attend. The classes of 1950 through 1970 were there. There was a special award given to Coach Matthews, he attended the get together on Saturday night. Five of us are going to help Michael and Glynda get another one together and we need e-mail addresses of everyone. Micheal and Glynda did a great job and it was very special to all of us. Was reading the Gab and got to reminiscing about Pecos, friends, and stuff, and finally got the nerve to write. This is Marina (Granado) Natividad, living here in the big city of Denver City, Texas. For those who don't know, I'm starting my 8th year of teaching and loving it. I teach 4 yr. olds at the elementary here. My daughter Alex is a senior and is loving being a cheerleader. I have Aaron who is 5 and just started kindergarten and not too pleased that he has to get up in the morning to go. Been married to Joey Natividad (from Pecos) for 15 years now. Anyways, I've read the Gab and saw some familiar names, so I was hoping to connect with some friends from the class of 85. If anyone remembers me, I would love to hear from you.
