Howdy again! Just wanted everyone to know we got Chris safely off to sunny
Korea today! He'll be home for a month mid tour, but everybody keep him and
us in your prayers. My daughter and her father started reminscing about Dairy
Mart's Dr. Pepper shakes and we just wondered if anybody can think of
something to compare it to. Cause we've tried Sonic's and they just don't
come close!!! We miss the Pecos of our youth where the streets teamed with
the teens' cars on Fri and Sat nites. Where there were always people on the
sidewalks and stores lined each street! It's ashame that my kids will never
get to visit that Pecos, for the Pecos of our youth was a place of history
and pride to all who lived there. Visitors to that Pecos came away with the
knowledge that we loved our fair city! Our children will only visit that
Pecos in the storys of our youth and I wonder too if others feel the same? I
was saddened by the turn Pecos has taken for the worst. I do understand the
need to find jobs, I'm just decouraged by the lack of businesses been courted
to come to Pecos! We both still have family in Pecos and we would like to
think we could come back to Pecos to live someday. But with the way Pecos
seems to be regressing I don't see that happening in the future! Isn't There
Anything To Be Done?!
I still love Pecos and will always call Pecos my home where ever we end up!

Hello to all my classmates. I have been in recent contact with Michael Hartman who is coordinating the mega reunion in Dallas
over Labor Day. He informed me that only the class of 1970 is invited to the mega reunion. Apparently, the original plans were to
invite the early 1960's classes and then the event blossomed into the mega reunion. SO THE MESSAGE HERE IS THAT WE
NEED TO ORGANIZE OUR OWN REUNION IF WE ARE GOING TO HAVE ONE. Pat Chesney, our classmate, has been good
enough to organize a website that we can all use. Please send your thoughts and current contact information to:
http://home.centurytel.net/Custserv3/reunion.html

It is essential to move quickly if we are going to organize anything this year. It could be a blast to get together again. Your
opinion matters and any email addresses that you have on any of our classmates would be helpful.

OF THE MESSAGE DID.
I HAVE HAD A GREAT RESPONSE TO MY E-MAILS AND HAVE COME TO THE REALIZATION
THAT WE MAY HAVE HAD SOMETHING SPECIAL IN PECOS. IT SEEMS THAT LITTLE HAS
CHANGED. EVEN THOUGH MUCH TIME HAS PASTED SINCE WE WERE ALL TOGETHER IN
PECOS. WE HAVE ALL SEEN MUCH AND DONE MANY THINGS GREAT AND SMALL. STILL WE
SEEM TO HAVE TIME FOR THOSE WHO SHARED WHAT I FEEL WAS A VERY SPECIAL TIME. A
TIME THAT IN MANY WAYS HELPED ME AND I THINK MOST OF US THROUGH MUCH.
WE CARED FOR EACH OTHER.
I'M SO PROUD OF YOU PECOS. IT WAS THE PEOPLE WHO MADE A DUSTY LITTLE TOWN

Have just found news@pecos.net. I am a W.Texan living on the E.Coast & still LOVE hearing about my hometown (Wickett) &
Ward County.

Read your story about Barstow & Monahans, the history about the two towns. You mentioned a book about Ward County, would
LOVE to have that book, where can I purchase that?? Is it possible to purchase on-line, please say YES, because I'm a LONG
way from home.

I throughly enjoyed your story about Barstow, born & raised in W.Texas, never knew the fact's you shared in your story. Enjoyed
reading it & I WAS NOT bored, more like impressed with the fact's. Brightened my day, thank you!

I was wondering if I replied incorrectly since I sent an e-mail on Friday.
I'm probably just expecting to see it too soon. My e-mail read:
I wanted to answer a question posed in the March 1, 2001 Martin Fielder
message, because I'm afraid a lot of misinformation may arise. Tony
Thompson is very much alive.
I am Tony Thompson's sister, Margie Thompson Gonzales. December 24, 1984,
my father, C. M. "Red" Thompson, brother, Tony, and Uncle Larence Clark were
struck head-on by a drunk driver just outside of Andrews, Texas.
Sorrowfully, my father and uncle died in the wreck, but joyfully Tony lived.
He struggled for two years to survive horrible injuries, learning to walk
and talk again. He has continued to work hard at maintaining his health and
establishing a new life. He lost a great deal in terms of family and
friends, but has successfully built a life in Andrews, Texas.
Tony is a wonderful man who has fought an heroic battle back from coma and
brain damage. His entire family is so proud of him and his courage. He
would love to hear from old friends. His address is 407 NE 2nd St.,
Andrews, TX 79714. Please drop him a line. He's also in the phone book.

I wanted to send my condolences to Norman Hill and all of the families of Arlene. Arlene and I started the 1st
grade together and graduated from Pecos High School together. She was a wonderful person and when my mother passed away, I looked up and saw Arlene and Norman's sweet faces there to greet me.
Norman and Arlene also had taken the time to go and visit my parents (Nellie & Frosty Bowers) in Ft. Davis and I
found in one of my mothers journals where she referenced those visits and how important they were to them.
There must be a new star in the heavens, so we all need to look up and find Arlene as she sits in the Kingdom of
God as one of his angels.
Norman I send all of Jerry's and my love and concern.

I knew ya'll had a web site but never dreamed about this! We're Chris &
Machelle Taylor plus Aaron, my 13yr. old daughter and Jonathan, my 11yr. old
son. I'm sure most of ya'll have guessed Chris is related to the Taylor's in
Pecos. He is soon to leave for Korea for a year and this would be a good way
for him to stay in touch with Pecos if you guy's wanted to write him or me
for that matter! Just FYI, Chris joined the Army back in '97 and has been
stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY. this whole time. I'll write down our E's and
anybody who wants to can E us. Chris leaves the 18th of March for Korea. He
was infantry, but now he's a Cavalry Scout. That's a little hard to explain
to people who don't know the military, but he goes out to the field, finds
the enemy, and radios the tanks where to shoot basicly! There's some more to
the job but thats the main funtion! Hope to here from everybody and anybody
