Anna Elam

Anna L. (Cramer) Elam, 84, of Monahans, (formerly of Ft. Stockton) died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at the Monahans Managed Care Center in Monahans.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 24, at East Hill Cemetery in Ft. Stockton.

She was born March 9, 1922, in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico, worked as a secretary at Firestone Tire and Supply in Ft. Stockton and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Ft. Stockton.

Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Gene Clay of Dunn; two brothers, Roy Cramer of Euless, William Cramer of El Paso; eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Joe McCormick

Joe McCormick, 57, of Albuquerque, N.M., died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at his home after a long illness.

A private family memorial will be held.

He was born July 6, 1949, in Houston, lived in Pecos for a long time, graduated from Pecos High School in 1967 and was a musician.

Survivors include his parents, Geraldine and Harold McCormick of Ft. Stockton; one brother, Jay McCormick of Dallas; three sisters, Cindy Phillips of Dallas, Merrie Hammond of Midland and Laurie Cobb of Gary, Tx.

Arturo G. Natividad

Arturo G. Natividad, 50, of Lubbock, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007 in Lubbock.

Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 24, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

He was born April 22, 1956, in Artesia, N.M., was a longtime Pecos resident, a communication specialist and a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Natividad of Lubbock; one son, Arturo Jr. “Mikey” Natividad of Lubbock; his parents, Marcelino and Rita Natividad of Pecos; three brothers, Marcelino Jr. and Augustine Natividad of Pecos, Oscar Natividad of Arlington; four sisters, Katy Rayos, Cruz Natividad, Sally Vasquez and Lupe Natividad of Pecos and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pearl Scott

Pearl Elizabeth Smith, 80, of Searcy, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2007.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, at Powell Funeral Home of Searcy, Ark. and funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, at the Downtown Church of Christ.

She was born May 24, 1926, in Enid, Okla., the daughter of John and Pearl Herring Grayum, was raised in Pecos, and she and her husband, Paul Scott, Sr., founded the “Sojourners,” a national ministry of the Church of Christ, based in Marshall.

Survivors include her husband, Paul Searcy; three sons, Paul Scott, Jr. of West Yellowstone, Montana, Tom Scott of Pantego, Tx., Andy Scott of Searcy, Ark.; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Jesus Muniz

Jesus Muniz, 61, of Coyanosa, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at his residence. A rosary is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 20, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 21, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

He was born Dec. 24, 1945, in San Antonio Del Bravo, Chih., Mexico, was a farmer, a longtime Coyanosa resident and a Catholic.

Survivors include three sons, Marcario Muniz of Odessa, Pablo Muniz of Midland, Marco Lee Muniz of Coyanosa; two brothers, Pedro Muniz of Monahans, Antonio Muniz of Pecos; six sisters, Aurora Guardian of Casas Grandes, Ariz., Apolonia Ornelas of Balmorhea, Juanita Muniz of Monahans, Cruz Mendoza of Morton, Ramona Baeza of Coyanosa, Refugia Olivas of Artesia, N.M. and five grandchildren.

Sylvia Muniz

Sylvia S. Muniz, 49, of Coyanosa, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at her residence. A rosary is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 21, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

She was born April 29, 1957, in Coyame, Chih., Mexico, was a longtime Coyanosa resident, a homemaker and a Catholic.

Survivors include three sons, Marcario Muniz of Odessa, Pablo Muniz of Midland, Marco Lee Muniz of Coyanosa; her mother, Ramona Salcido of Coyame, Chih., Mexico; one brother, Gilberto Barrera of Pecos; one sister, Sulema Muniz of Pecos and five grandchildren.

James Norman

James Dewey Norman, Sr., 70, of Pecos, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at his residence.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with Mac McCormick officiating. He was a member of the Texas Tech Anatomical Gift Program.

He was born Jan. 4, 1937, in Atlanta, Georgia, had served in the U.S. Air Force, was a retired truck driver, a longtime Pecos resident and a Baptist.

Norman was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Goodman Norman; his father, James E. Norman; one brother, William Pearce Norman; one sister, Dolores Wise Carver and several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include two sons, James Norman Jr. of Marble Falls, Terry Norman of Griffis, Georgia; one daughter, Rhonda Owens of Piedmont, South Carolina and one brother, Bobby Lee Norman of Atlanta, Georgia.

Dorothy McCarty

Dorothy Mae McCarty, 76, went home peacefully on Friday, February 9, 2007. She was born on May 8, 1930 in Olney, Texas to the late W.T. and Laura Jones.

She was raised and educated in Odessa, graduating from Odessa High School in 1947. She met and later married Herbert McCarty on June 14, 1947. She moved to Pecos in 1964 and lived there until 1991. She had worked for the Reeves County Hospital as a Ward Clerk. Later she went to work for Pecos ISD. She retired in Llano, Texas and later moved to Midland in 1999.

Dorothy enjoyed crocheting, collecting Antiques and dinning out.

She was a very compassionate and loving person. She was also a very family oriented individual.

Dorothy was a member of North Temple Baptist Church of Pecos.

Marjorie Nichols

Marjorie Nichols, 95, of Carrollton, formerly of Barstow, died Friday, February 09, 2007 in Farmers Branch. She was born June 25, 1911 to Josiah and Donnie Stitt Black. She married Wendell Nichols on June 25, 1934 in Barstow. He preceded her in death on September 12, 1996.

Funeral service will be Monday, February 12, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church of Barstow with Rev. Nancy Willett officiating. Burial will follow at Barstow Cemetery.

She is survived by daughter-in-law, Betty Nichols of Carrollton, brother, Charles Black of El Paso, 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and son, Charlie Nichols.

Alice Matta

Alice Apolinar Matta, 56, of Pecos, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at Medical Center Hospital.

A rosary is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 2, at the Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass will be held at noon, Saturday, Feb. 3, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

She was born June 23, 1950, in Pecos, was a payroll supervisor for the Town of Pecos City, was a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic. Matta was preceded in death by her father, Frank Apolinar Sr. and two brothers, Steve and Frank “Kokie” Apolinar Jr.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest Matta; her mother, Mary C. Apolinar; three daughters, Diane Morelan of San Antonio, Sara Matta West of Pecos, Crystal Matta of Odessa; four sons, Ronnie Matta of Pecos, Darren Matta of Midland, Christopher Matta of Odessa, Ernest Matta Jr. of Georgia; one brother, Benjamin Apolinar of Texas City; four sisters, Mary Ann Apolinar of Texas City, Rachel Dominguez of San Antonio, Sylvia Apolinar of Pecos, Dolores “Dee Dee” Apolinar of Pecos, Patricia Apolinar of San Antonio and 12 grandchildren.

Isaias Renteria

Isaias “Cheyenne” Renteria, 71, of Pecos, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Mass was held at noon, Thursday, Feb. 1, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Miguel Angel Sanchez officiating.

He was born Sept. 22, 1935, in Presidio, was a lifetime Pecos resident, an auto mechanic, and a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Aurora R. Renteria of Pecos; one son, Jaime Renteria of Midland, three daughters, Sylvia Renteria and Rosemary Madrid of Midland, Esmeralda Suarez of Odessa; one brother, Pablo Renteria of Pecos; one sister, Maria Luz Diaz of Wickett; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Andrew Lewis

Howell "Andrew" Lewis, 72, passed away Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at his home in Veribest, Tx.

He was born August 25, 1934, in El Paso, the eldest child to Howell and Evelyn Lewis, members of a pioneer ranching family in Otero County, NM.

Mr. Lewis was a life-long and well-respected cattleman, having managed cattleyards in Reeves and Tom Green counties. He was also well known for his integrity and fairness in business dealings, his love of history and story-telling and his appreciation of good cattle and fine horses.

Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gerald Lewis.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Joy Lewis; children, G.L. Lewis, Barry Lewis and wife Lou, Mark Lewis, all of Balmorhea, TX, and Elizabeth Lewis and fiancé Michael Davis of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren Dana Hoss, and husband Brad of Ness City, KS, Andy Lewis and fiancée Christy Jones of Alpine, TX, James Lewis and Allan Lewis of Balmorhea, TX and Dillon Davis and Nikole Davis of San Antonio, TX; brother Pete Lewis and wife Minnie of Dell City, TX and sister-in-law Mary Lewis of Pecos, TX; nephews Bill Lewis of Tularosa, NM, Marty Lewis of Portales, NM, Casey Lewis of Sonora, TX and Kenneth Lewis of Dell City, TX; nieces Brenda Etcheverry of Carlsbad, NM, Leeta Lewis of Wink, TX and Deborah Hickox of Dell City, TX, as well as numerous relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held at Johnson Funeral Home in San Angelo, TX on Tuesday, January 30, from 2-4 p.m. Graveside services will be held Thursday, February 1, at 1 p.m.

Juan Perez

Juan Bustamante Perez, 52, of Pecos, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at Reeves County Hospital.

Mass will be held at noon, Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Miguel Angel Sanchez officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

He was born April 18, 1954, in Rodeo, Durango, Mexico, was an oilfield employee, a longtime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Survivors include his longtime companion, Celestina Cerna of Pecos; his parents, Jose Santos and Carlota Perez of Rodeo Durango, Mexico; one son, Juan Perez Jr. of Midland; two daughters, Veronica P. Ornelas of Pecos, Nicolette Pena of Midland; one brother, Martin B. Perez of Mexico; five sisters, Bennie B., Paulina B., Alicia B., Guadalupe B., Margarita B. and Teresa B. Perez, all of Rodeo, Mexico and one grandchild.

Emma Shepherd

Emma L. Shepherd, 94, of Pecos, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at the Pecos Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 1, at First United Methodist Church with David Smith officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

She was born Feb. 4, 1912, in Dublin, Texas, was a retired teacher, had lived in Pecos a long time and was a Methodist.

Shepherd was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Shepherd; her parents and five brothers.

Survivors include two brothers, Sam McAnally of Brady, John McAnally of Llano; two sisters, Catherine Ross of Houston, Evelyn Winn of Carlsbad, N.M. and numerous nieces and nephews.

William R. Sewell

William Reeves Sewell born Barstow Texas, November 13, 1926, Died Janary 2, 2007.

Son of Floyd & Mamie Sewell; grandson of WIlliam A. Sewell who opened the first general merchandise store in Barstow, circa 1910. William was raised in Visalia, California. He sailed with the Matson Lines in the south PAcific for 10 years and then held a career in home building and real estate in Honolulu, Hawaii. William was Hawaii's first Home Inspector. He retired to Danville California.

William is survived by his wife Mary Elizabeth of Danville, California; three children William Shaw Sewell (Nova Scotia) Michele Elaine Harris (Hawaii) and Scott Reeves Sewell (California) and sister Mary Frances Alexander (Arizona.)

Rodolfo Inostroza

Rodolfo “Rudy” Inostroza, 55, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, at Providence Memorial Hospital in El Paso.

Services will be held at noon, Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

He was born March 24, 1951, in Juarez, Mexico, was an oil field worker, a longtime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Survivors include two sons, Ruben Inostroza of Austin, Rene Inostroza of Pecos; two daughters, Clarissa Inostroza of Midland, Cecilia Ramirez of Pecos; five sisters, Yolanda I. Mamey of El Paso, Irma Martinez of El Paso, Judy Padilla of El Paso, Patricia Villanueva of Midland, Lorena Inostroza of Juarez, Mexico and 12 grandchildren.

Daraliene Smith

Daraliene Elaine Smith, 67, of Del Rio, died Jan. 15, 2007.

Memorial funeral service will be held at 5:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 19, at the First Presbyterian Church at 220 Spring Street, Del Rio, with Reverend Dan Snider officiating. She was born April 1, 1939, in Denver, Colo., was a schoolteacher with SFDRISD, beginning in 1987 at Lamar Elementary and then at Calderon Elementary School. She was also an officer with Delta Kappa gamma and a member of the Eastern Stars of Ruth Chapter in Deming, N.M.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Smith of Del Rio; two sons, Brad Lee Smith of Lake City, Colo., Stacy Lee Smith of Midland; grandson, Dylen Smith of Lake City, Colo.; cousins: Sandy Murray of Escondido, Calif, Glenda “Sig” Potter of Nevada; nieces: Cindy Mintz of Ramona, Calif. and Jeanne Norton of Poway, Calif.

Allen Williams

Allen Aubry Williams, 81, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007.

He was born Jan. 27, 1925, in St. Augustine, Tx., during WWII joined the United States Navy in October of 1942, served at Guadal Canal and in the Phillipine Islands as a ship cook and on the land crew. He was in the Naval Reserves for 10 years after WWII was over. On return from his naval duties on Jan. 6, 1945, he started working in the oilfield. He worked for Rowan Drilling Company for 32 years, working in all levels of the oil field, working up to drilling supervisor. He lived in Odessa, Pecos area most of his life.

Williams was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill Williams, Norman Williams, Jim Anderson and grandson Tommy Joe Tucker.

Survivors include his wife, Dot Williams of the home; brother, B.J. Anderson of Ft. Worth; children, Steve Williams of Austin, Josan Mitz of Hay Fork, Calif., Julie Williams of Hays, Kansas, Roger Walser of Yukon, Missouri, Gary Walser of the Phillipines, Beverly Bishop of Pecos, Dixie Tolbert of Sulphur, Okla., Debra Williams of Tulsa, Okla., Allen Williams Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz., Scott Williams of Kansas City, Kansas; 27 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

Esequiel Ornelas

Esequiel Ornelas, 50, of Pecos, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at Reeves County Hospital.

Mass was held at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 15, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

He was born May 17, 1956, in Pecos, was a mechanic, a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Ornelas was preceded in death by his father, Francisco Ornelas, Sr.

Survivors include his mother, Maria Eva Holguin; one son, Joe Ornelas of Dallas; three daughters, Joann and Tabitha Ornelas of Amarillo, Tammy Flores of Big Spring; 10 brothers, Lico and Robert Ornelas of Pecos, Vicente Ornelas of North Dakota, Frank Ornelas of Barstow, Freddy, Charlie and Francisco Ornelas of San Antonio, Antonio Ornelas of El Paso, Bobby Ornelas of Madera, Calif., Raul Ornelas of Juarez; eight sisters, Modesta Lara, Cruz Garcia, Petra Ortiz, Prissy Ornelas, Carmela Ornelas, all of Pecos, Syria Garcia of Del Rio, Dora Ornelas of Monahans and Peggy Gonzales of Odessa.

Manuela Rodriguez

Manuela Evaro Rodriguez, 86, of Pecos, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007.

Mass was held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 15, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

She was born June 1, 1920, in Carlsbad, N.M., was a homemaker, a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Rodriguez was preceded in death by four brothers, Juan E., Isidro E., Eusebio E. and Frank E. Rodriguez.

Survivors include one sister, Maria R. Rubio.

Melody Wilkinson

Melody Ann Wilkinson, 51, of Mentone, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at her home.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, at the Pyote Cemetery with Brother Richard Ray officiating.

She was born March 19, 1955, in Fruitvale, Tx., was a homemaker and a member of Wink First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Wilkinson of Mentone; two sons, Clifford Raymon Wilkinson of Yuma, Ariz., William Wilkinson II of Mentone; one daughter, Jacque Nicole Wilkinson of Mentone; two brothers, M.J. Anglin of Monahans, Roland Anglin of El Paso; three sisters, Louise McGee, Ruby Anglin and Linda Butler, all of Sulfur Springs, Tx. and two grandchildren.

Allen Winkles

Allen Ray Winkles, 33, of Pecos, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Monday, at West Park Baptist Church.

Winkles was born June 17, 1973, in Pecos, had lived in Pecos a long time, was a courier driver and a Baptist.

Survivors include two sons, Preston and Kaleb Allen Winkles of Odessa; one daughter, Tazia LeeAn Winkles of Odessa; his parents, Wayne and Rhonda Winkles of Lubbock; grandparents, Selma Carrell of Pecos, Sue Winkles of Lubbock and Odell Winkles of Hobbs, N.M. and one sister, Mary Winkles of Lubbock.

Dale Blackstock

Dale Blackstock, age 80, born in Water Valley, TX. on May 17, 1926. He moved to Pecos, TX. In 1957.

Mr. Blackstock passed away on Tuesday January 9th, 2007.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday the 12th of January at the Church of Christ on 4th and Bois D’arc at 2:30 p.m. followed by graveside service at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife , Tommie Jo Blackstock. Son, Rocky and wife Darla Blackstock. Daughters, Donna and husband David Switzer, and Glenda Causey. Stepsons, Joe (Skeeter) and wife Brenda Smith and the late Stanley Smith. Step-daughter, Kay and husband Kent Knab. Twelve grandchildren and sixteen great -grand children.

Jackie Glover

Jackie Dee Glover, 68, of Sweetwater, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at his residence.

Services were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 10, at the McCoy Chapel of Memories.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 11, at Balmorhea Cemetery in Balmorhea.

He was born Jan. 25, 1938, in Knox City, Tx., was a member of Roscoe First Baptist Church, retired from the State of Texas in 2000 after 20 years of service working for the Balmorhea Highway Department eight years and the Texas Corrections Department at Snyder about 12 years. He loved rodeoing and lived in Sweetwater since 1976.

Survivors include his wife, RaVona Glover of Sweetwater; two sons, Loby Glover and wife Chandra of Cedar Hill, Chad Glover of Houston; step-son Dusty Rector and wife Linda of South Lake; one sister, Nancy Jane Hogue and husband Archie of Silver City, N.M.; one brother, Mike Glover and wife Sandy of Ozona; four grandchildren, Jaime and Kourtney Glover, Ashley and Alex Rector. Honorary pallbearers: Don Underwood, Milton Christman, Jack Shoemake, Benny Benz, Donnie Rannefeld, Jerry Heflin, Jim Moore, Fidel Martinez, and all TDC Guards of the Price Daniel Unit in Snyder.

Joan Porter

Joan Margaret (Smith) Porter, 69, of Lockney, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, at Lockney Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 29, with Dr. Carl Moman, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Lockney Cemetery.

She was born Dec. 25, 1937, in Vernon, graduated from Vernon High School in 1956 and from Wayland Baptist College in 1960 with a degree in religious education with endorsements in English as a Second Language and reading from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, N.M., she taught elementary school in Lovington, N.M. and later at Highland Elementary School in Plainview. She also taught in Pecos and Balmorhea. She was active in a number of professional education organizations and joined her husband in his music and pastoral work in a variety of communities. Porter was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and brother-in-law, Janie and Joe Hoyle and one brother, Charles Smith.

Roy Hill

Roy Hill, 67, of Pecos, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at Odessa Medical Center in Odessa.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 9, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

He was born Oct. 5, 1939, in Rising Star, Tx., served in the U.S. Air Force, was an auto glass repairman and a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Hill of Pecos; one son, Thomas Edgard Hill of Odessa; two brothers, Norman Hill of Pecos, Jack Hill of Lewisville and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harry Reddick

Harry Bynum Reddick, 83, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, MO.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 South Hwy. 195, in Killeen. He was born Feb. 5, 1923, in Lawton, Okla., served in the U.S. Airforce in England in 1941, with the 305th Bombardment Squadron. While in the service he met Iris Eva Gregory of Leicester, England and they married on Dec. 24, 1944, in the Holy Apostle Church of England. He also attended Cisco Junior College for several years and the couple moved to Pecos in 1950, where he managed Powell and Sons (John Deere) Tractor Company for 35 years.

Reddick was preceded in death by one son, Michael John Warrick Reddick; two brothers, Roger Henry Reddick of Lake Worth and Lee Roy Reddick of Pioneer, Tx.

Survivors include five daughters, Patricia Ann Oden of Pecos, Marilyn Faye Clawson of Regency, Virginia Marie Graham of Scottsdale, Ariz., Andrea Rae Cherry of Houma, LA., Mary Lou Shipman of New Bloomfield, MO; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family requests that any flowers be sent to the home in Pecos.

Elia R. Orona

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, after a lengthy illness at Hospice House in Odessa, on Jan. 3, 2007, surrounded by those who loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Raymundo Orona, daughter Leonor Jenkins and husband David, granddaughters, Hannah and Leah all of Odessa. Daughters Frances Orona of Peoria, Ariz., Melinda Minjarez of Odessa, grandchildren, Lisa Ruiz and husband Armando, great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Sierra Ruiz of Carlsbad, N.M., and grandson Joshua Orona of Odessa. Son Ray Orona and wife Lupe, granddaughters Monica, Victoria and Veronica all of Broken Arrow, Okla. Her father Pedro Rodriguez of Pecos and brothers Julio, Andrew, Gene, Israel and Hector and sisters Louisa, Isidra, Isabel and Tina.

She is preceded in death by her mother Leonor Rodriguez and brothers Ben and Pete Rodriguez.

Funeral services will be under the direction of Pecos Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2007, at the Pecos Funeral Home with burial following at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

Carlos Carrasco

Carlos “Carlitos” Carrasco, 66, of Pecos, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006.

A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 4, at the Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel.

He was born Oct. 4, 1940, in Pecos, had served in the U.S. Army, was a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Carrasco was preceded in death by his parents, Carmen and Maria Carrasco and one sister, Matilda Jaquez.

Survivors include two sisters, Eliza Velasquez of Midland and Marcela “Margie” C. Tarin of Pecos.

Mary Contreras

Mary G. Contreras, 67, of Pecos, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, in Odessa.

Mass was held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, at the Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

She was born April 15, 1939, in Mason, Tx., had worked in culinary, was a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Contreras was preceded in death by both parents, Abelino and Maxima Gonzales.

Survivors include three sons, Juan Contreras III, Michael Contreras of Pecos, Jody Contreras of Odessa; two daughters, Amy Contreras of Odessa, Diana Contreras of Pecos; one brother, Abelino Gomez Jr. of Pecos; two sisters, Lily Machuca, Julia Garcia of Pecos and seven grandchildren.

Peaceful Garden Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Marie Sears

Marie Rose Sears, 91, of Pecos, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at the Pecos Nursing Home.

Sears donated her body to Texas Tech University Sciences Center School of Medicine.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

She was born June 2, 1915, in Travis County to George and Heddi (Miller) Rose. She married James (Jabo) Sears on Nov. 10, 1939 in Carlsbad, N.M. He preceded her in death on April 11, 2002. Her sister, Alma Rose Stephens, and brothers, George and Lewis Rose also preceded her in death.

At one time, Sears was the head of nurses at Reeves County Hospital. In act, she started the Ladies Auxiliary at the hospital and later the Friends of the Museum, had been an active leader with Rainbow Girls, member of the Eastern Star, member of the Twentieth Century Club and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pecos.

Survivors include one sister, Minnie Beene of Kerrville; a sister-in-law, Jonye Walker Moscarelli of Houston, a brother-in-law, Jerry Sears of Reno, Nevada and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to The West of the Pecos Museum, the First Presbyterian Church of Pecos, or the charity of choice.
