You’ll get a fat lip
has different slant
Slouching in my recliner punching buttons on the remote has become a habit during this unbearably hot weather, since the only cool spot in the house is in front of the air conditioner vent facing that particular chair. What do I get for my trouble? Fat lips. No, it’s not that someone smacked me in the mouth. But most of today’s actresses look like they took a hit right in the kisser. Whoever makes Botox must have to haul their take to the bank every hour. Some of the skinnier fat lips could be called attractive. But I find that most of them are ludicrous. Just last night I saw a woman whose lips pooched out so far you had to strain to see the rest of her face. And her cheeks looked like they had some Botox, too. I couldn’t take it, so punched the button to seek another channel. It’s gotten so prevalent that now, instead of watching the movie, I watch the actresses’ lips and try to guess which ones have had an injection. Skinny models have joined the crowd. Some of them have lips bigger than their boobs. One woman I saw on a talk show had so many face lifts and injections that her face looks like a war zone. Her face was swollen from injections gone awry, but she wasn’t quitting. I guess she was looking for the fountain of youth. Speaking of which, Juana Jaquez said she found it, and I believe her. She took time out from her Mariachi singing at La Tienda last week to come over and give me a hug. I have never seen anyone improve in looks like she has since retiring as district clerk and moving to Odessa. She will never need a lip injection. “Charm can be deceiving, and beauty faces away, but a woman who honors the Lord deserves to be praised.” Proverbs 31:30, CEV EDITOR’S NOTE: Peggy McCracken is Enterprise business manager.
