Radio broadcast features local minister as host

Amazing Grace will be a 10-minute Radio broadcast, starting in December
at 10:30 a.m. on KIUN.

Charles Tolbert, minister at First Assembly of God Church, in Pecos,
will be the host speaker on this daily, Monday through Friday broadcast.

The purpose of this daily devotional will be to study and share the
Bible and it's application to our everyday living experiences. This
broadcast will be an interdenominational program and will be designed to
offer challenging and new approaches to our spiritual lives in today's
hit-tech, fast moving society.

Guest speaker, Tolbert, will commence the broadcast, studying the Gospel
of John; chapter by chapter, verse by verse.

Those who study with the speaker, will learn how, "Faith and Working,"
is relevant to today as it was 2,000 years ago.

Metler ends basic training

Army Reserve Pvt. Matthew L. Metler has graduated from basic military
training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the training, students received instruction in drill and
ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military
justice, first aid, and Army history and traditions.

Metler is the son of Steve and Chris Metler of Pecos.

The private is a 1997 graduate of Pecos High School.

Registration at OC scheduled

Registration for the 1997-98 midwinter session at Odessa College is
scheduled 9:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, through Wednesday, Dec. 3.
The session runs from 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 through Monday, Jan. 10,
1998.

Students also can register for midwinter from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday,
Dec. 13, and 8-10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29.

The 13 courses offered are Marine Ecology, Composition and Literature,
Survey of World Literature II, U.S. and Texas Government, American
National Government, U.S. History to 1877, U.S. History from 1877,
Introductory Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Structures
of College Mathematics I, Introduction to Psychology and Public Speaking.

The courses parallel those offered in the regular term, except they are
compressed into a shorter time span. Designed to allow students to
complete a three- or four-semester hour course in a special short-term
session, these coures receive full academic recognition, with the credit
earned being equivalent to a regular session.

Students transferring from other colleges for OC's midwinter session
must submit an official transcript at registration to document their
Texas Academic Skills Program (TASP) status and TASP scores.

For more information, call 335-6400. Odessa College will be closed
Wednesday, Nov. 26, through Friday, Nov. 28, for the Thanksgiving
Holiday. Offices will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1.
