The Bears have set their bi-district playoff game against the Garden
City Bearcats for 7 p.m. on Feb. 20 in McCamey, according to coach
Michael Barrandey. Balmorhea is the District 29-A champion, while Garden
City lost a playoff with Irion County on Tuesday for the District 30-A
title.
The Bears' 6:30 p.m. practice game against the Badgers tonight is set
to go on as scheduled as of late this morning, despite predictions of
late afternoon snow around the Permian Basin. McCamey, District 6-2A
runners-up, face Shallowater in their bi-district contest.
The Bears will go to Van Horn on Monday to face Dell City, the District
32-A runners-up, in their final practice game, also set for a 6:30 p.m.
start.
Meanwhile, a Class 5A girls basketball playoff game will take place on
Friday night in Pecos. The El Paso Andress Mustangs will take on the
Lubbock Monterey Plainswomen in an area round contest, starting at 7
p.m.
The Eagles will face the Loboes and Snyder Tigers in the first of four
dates leading up to the District 4-4A Tournament at Midland College on
April 11-12.
Coach J.R. Torrez' team will have trips to El Paso on conecutive
weekends on Feb. 28-Mar. 1 and March 8, then are open for four weeks,
before competing in tournament play at Fort Stockton on April 4-5.
The top two finishers in boys add girls singles and doubles play at
district will advance to Regionals, set for the week of April 21 in San
Angelo.
