Monahans men's basketball earns a playoff berth with a win over Presidio

When the clock hit double zero in the fourth quarter, Tuesday night the
Loboes knew they would go on. For the second season in a row the
Monahans Loboes boys' basketball team will make a play off appearance.
Monahans clinched a play off spot with their 76-46 win over Presidio.

The Loboes remain the only unbeaten team in district 3-3A and can clinch
the district championship with a win over Clint Friday and Alpine
Tuesday.

Monahans opened the game up with intense play, running up 23 points in
the opening quarter of play. Shannon Shorter alone had 10 points in the
first.

Presidio was held in check by the Green defense and were only able to
mark up 17 points going into the second quarter of play.

Both offenses brought down their play a notch in the second quarter.
Monahans still got the best of Presidio out scoring them 14-9 to move to
a 37-26 lead going into the locker room at the half.

The second half was the "foul Jeremy Ornelas" portion on the game.
Ornelas went to the line for seven free throws in the third quarter; he
ended up shooting two more in the fourth. Ornelas made eight in row
after missing the first one.

Presidio ran with the Loboes in the third but the Green got the better
of their opponent again to move to a 55-37 lead.

The Big Green went into the fourth and ran Presidio off the court and
went on to win easily 76-46.
