Jesus GonzalesJesus "Jessie" Gonzales, 45, of Pecos died on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, as a result of a traffic accident in southeastern Reeves County.Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Pecos Funeral Home, with burial at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Fort Stockton. Gonzales was born on Feb. 23, 1955 and worked for UTI Drilling at the time of his death. She was born Jan. 28, 1938, in Artesia, N.M., from 1976-1985 worked for the Carlsbad Irrigation District during the winters as a heavy equipment operator. During the summers she worked at Ruidoso Downs Race Track. From 1985-1997 she worked at the Pennzoil Sulphur Plant in Culberson County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lonzo Coon on Dec. 31, 1971; one daughter, Leslie Marie Coon, July 11, 1987; one granddaughter, Mindy Hazel, June 1, 1982 and two brothers, Eugene Barrett in 1998 and Bill Barrett in 1997. Sam Houston National Cemetery. She will be buried with her beloved husband, Joseph Robert Humphrey. She was born June 28, 1900, in Emory, Tx. She and Joseph Robert Humphrey were married in 1923, and they came to Pecos, where he had graduated from high school in 1916. He was superintendent of schools, and she was a teacher. Through the years, Marana was a strong, positive influence on the students that she taught, and won many teaching accolades. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her grandsons will cherish the memories of living with her in Austin at various times during their college years, and memorable visits. She was preceded in death by her husband, "Joe Bob" in 1972. Survivors include two daughters, Martha Muirhead of Plattsburg, Mo. and Lillian Creasy of Pecos; four grandsons, Joseph R. Muirhead, John Muirhead, Robert Rhea, and Scott Rhea, and two great-grandchildren. Her loving touch will remain with all those who loved her, and she will be very missed. She moved to Midland in 1948 and was the Music Director at First Christian Church from 1949 to 1959. She was a private piano and voice teacher for over 50 years. Tiny, as she was known to family and friends, was born on the V.H. Ranch near Pecos and attended Sul Ross State Teacher's College and Mary Hardin Baylor. She married Guy E. Walker on July 7, 1931. They made their home in Pecos where Tiny taught in the Pecos schools. She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a "Life Member" of the Merry Wives Club, having been in the club for more than 50 years. Walker was preceded in death by her husband, Guy E. Walker in 1982. During the war all the men band directors were drafted, so she was band director for the Pecos schools and later in Lubbock, where she also had the orchestras in the schools. During that time she was on the piano and violin faculty at Texas Tech. She had served as choir director and church organist for various churches during a period of over 30 years. By profession she was a piano teacher. She was also adjudicator for the National Guild of Piano teachers and for nearby area contests. Survivors include her husband, R.L.
