Kendall Embry

Kendall Embry, 71, of Lovington, N.M., died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at his residence.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 1, at Church of the Nazarene in Lovington, with Reverend James Miller officiating. Burial will be in Lovington.

He was born February 16, 1932, in Aberdeen, Kentucky, married Marjorie McAnally in Pecos in 1951 and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

Embry was preceded in death by one son, Ernie Embry.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Embry of Lovington, N.M.; one son, Mike Embry of Lovington, N.M.; one brother, Eugene Embry of Brownwood and four grandchildren.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Vista Care Hospice, 1515 W. Calle Sur, Hobbs, N.M. 88240 or Church of the Nazarene, 301 St. 1st, Lovington, N.M. 88260.

Cecilia Carrasco

Cecilia "Ceci" Carrasco, 27, of Pecos, died Monday, July 21, 2003, in an automobile accident that occurred on I-10 in Sierra Blanca.

A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m., tonight, at the Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, July 25, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 24, 1975, in El Paso, was a homemaker, a longtime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Carrasco was preceded in death by one son, Jacob Carrasco.

Survivors include her husband, Jose Rodolfo "Rudy" Carrasco of Pecos; her parents, Rufino and Gloria Santana of San Elizario and one daughter, Bethany Carrasco of Pecos.

Bowie Davis

Bowie Davis, 87, of Pecos, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 26, at Mt. Evergreen with Rev. J.E. Mac McCormick officiating.

He was born Oct. 15, 1915, in Pecos, was a World War II Veteran who received a Purple Heart, a salesman and a lifetime Pecos resident.

Survivors include his wife, Novella Davis of Pecos; one son, Jeff Davis and wife Evelyn of Odessa; three daughters, Sugar and husband James Acker of Pecos, Donna and husband Roy Hill of Pecos, Patsy Payne of San Antonio; one brother, Jay Davis of Pecos; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Dorothy B. Lindsay, 73, of Pecos, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Hospice House in Odessa.

Services will be held at 4 p.m., Friday, July 25, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Greer Willis officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 5, 1929, in Forstia, Tx., was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Lindsay of Pecos; three sons, John and wife Susan Lindsay and their two children of Greenwood, Roy Lindsay Jr. of Boerne, Jeff Lindsay of Pecos; three daughters, Beverly and husband, Jay Treat and children, Shannon Lee Baker Treat of Odessa; Barbara Thomas and children, Bridley Neil Lomas of Abilene; Joni Lindsay of Waco; one sister, Tincey McDonald of Cleveland and five great-grandchildren.

Soledad "Chole" L. Palomino, 72, of Barstow, died Sunday, July 20, 2003, at Reeves County Hospital.

A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church in Barstow.

Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 23, at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church with Father Gustavo Lopez officiating. Burial will be in Barstow Cemetery.

She was born Feb. 24, 1931, in Saragosa, was a homemaker, a lifelong Barstow resident and a Catholic.

Palomino was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Mary Lou Palomino; two sisters, Benina Ortiz and Eloisa Rodriguez and one brother, Lorenzo Lopez.

Patsy Prieto

Patsy Garcia Prieto, 45, of El Paso, died Saturday, July 19, 2003.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m., Tuesday, July 22, at Primera Iglesia Apostolica De La Fe en Cristo Jesus in El Paso with burial in Evergreen East Cemetery.

She was born April 18, 1958, had been a resident of Pecos and had lived in El Paso for the past five years.

Prieto was preceded in death by Esther Carrasco; her parents, Eugene and Julia Garcia and one son, Enoc Prieto.

Survivors include sons and daughters, Pricilla Garcia Dominguez, Rebecca, Karen, Shem, Adam and Enoc Prieto; two sisters, Aurora Miramontes and Gloria Hamilton; two brothers, Joe and Teofilo Garcia and six grandchildren.

Elvia Reynolds

Dr. Elvia L. Reynolds, 79, of Pecos, died Friday, July 18, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Services were held at 10 a.m., today, at Church of Christ, 4th and Bois D'Arc Streets, with Joe Smith officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Creek Jerusalem, Ark.

He was born Feb. 10, 1924, in Morrilton, Ark., served in the Army in World War II, was a veteran, a retired dentist and a member of the Church of Christ.

Reynolds served on the Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD Board for many years, was a member of the Town of Pecos City Council for six years and had been a dentist in Pecos since 1954.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean Reynolds of Pecos; two sons, Randy Reynolds of Pecos, Danny Reynolds of Brownfield; one daughter, Gayle R. Britt of San Carlos, Calif.; two sisters, Dale Meyer and Dot King of Petit Jean Mountain, Ark; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Raymond Brown

Raymond Everet Brown, 80, of Fort Stockton, died Saturday, July 5, 2003, in Fort Stockton.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 21, at the First Methodist Church in Balmorhea with Rev. Ernie Vinyard officiating.

He was born March 20, 1923, in Nowata, Okla., was a WWII Veteran Air Force, lifetime member of the V.F.W., American Legion and Fraternal Order of the Eagles.

Brown was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ora Brown; one son, Joseph B. Brown and one brother, George Taylor.

Survivors include his wife, Pattye J. Brown of Fort Stockton; one son, Ray Brown Jr. of Midland; one daughter, Maggie Brown of Fort Stockton; five brothers, Joe Taylor of Wyoming, Fred Brown, Cleve Brown, Gary Brown and Bill Brown of Oklahoma; four sisters, Beverly Brown of Oklahoma, Grace Truhlar of Kansas, Betty Sells of Arizona, Maxine Sappenfield of Kansas and four grandchildren.

Beverley Hardy

Beverley L. Hardy, 58, of Odessa, died Wednesday, July 16, in Odessa.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, at East Hill Cemetery with Rev. A.D. Jackson officiating.

She was born May 10, 1945, in Fort Stockton, had lived in Odessa since 1973, had lived in Pecos, was in computer accounting, was a longtime member of the Eagles, charter member of 'Double T' C.B. Club and a member of the Tabernacle Baptist of Crane.

Survivors include her mother, Minnie L. Dicken of Crane; one daughter, Melissa Townsend of Midland; one brother, Tom Hardy Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla. and one grandchild.

Melba Talley

Melba Talley, 77, of Pecos, died Thursday, July 17, at her residence.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 19, 2003, at the First Presbyterian Church with Randy Foster officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 11, 1925, in Tyler, was a bookkeeper and homemaker, had lived in Pecos since the late 1940's, was a member of the Pecos Art Association, Pecos Bridge Club, the Elkettes, the Reeves County Hospital Auxilary and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Talley was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Roy Talley; one daughter, Sherry McQueen and one granddaughter, Dana Dudley.

Survivors include three daughters, Candy Jones of Mesquite, Dona Spears of Midland, Cynthia Armbrewster of Deleon, Tx.; one sister, Bodene Graham of Terrell; one brother, Leon Graham of Tyler; one half-brother, Jimmy Graham of Tyler; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Tomasa Tarin Capetillo, 67, of Pecos, died Sunday, July 13, 2003, at Odessa Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, July 17, at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

She was born Dec. 12, 1935, in Presidio, was a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Capetillo was preceded in death by her parents Santiago and Benita Tarin.

Survivors include three sons, Jesse Tarin of Big Spring, Abraham and Robert Tarin of Lubbock; four daughters, Rebecca Capetillo of Snyder, Benita Rodriguez and Priscilla Orosco of Pecos, Norma Wright of Odessa; two brothers, Jesse and James Tarin of Pecos; three sisters, Maria T. Franco of Pecos, Juanita T. Rico of Barstow, Ester Tarin of Snyder and 18 grandchildren.

Sergio Villarreal

Sergio "Chico" Villarreal Sr., 60, of Tatum, died Thursday, July 10, 2003, in Tyler.

Services were held at 4 p.m., July 12, in Rader Funeral Home Chapel of Longview with pastor Paul Klewer officiating. Burial was in Chalk Hill Cemetery.

Villarreal was born Sept. 23, 1942, in Laredo and was an oiler mechanic for Watkin Construction Co.

He was preceded in death by Jaime Villarreal and his father, Leobardo Villarreal Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Elvia Villarreal of Tatum; his mother, Zulema Villarreal; his children, Iris Villarreal of Longview and Sergio Alonzo Villarreal Jr. of Tatum; his grandson, Shane Lee Calhoun Jr.; his brothers and sisters and their spouses, Sylvia and Rene Guerra, Hilda and Alfonso Bustamante, Elvia and Baldo Ramirez, Leobardo Jr. and Cruz Villarreal, Lauro and Bertha Villarreal, Maria Elena and Roberto Gavaldon, Carmen and Raul Estrella, Dalia and Jesus Franco, Leticia and Elias Gonzalez and Joel and Norma Villarreal.

He was born May 22, 1918, in Nacienda, Tx., was a retired cafe owner, a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Galindo was preceded in death by one grandchild, Ramiro Salazar and three sisters, Celia, Julia and Delfina Galindo.

Survivors include one son, Jesus Galindo of Pecos; three daughters, Guadalupe Galindo and Rose Marie Nunez of Pecos, Josefina Galindo of Odessa; one brother, Estanislado Galindo of Pecos; one sister, Maria Larez of Pecos; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Jose "Joe" Candia Jr., 46, died Monday, July 7, 2003, in Midland.

He was born Sept. 27, 1956, in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico, was a longtime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Candia of Midland; his parents, Jose and Agapita Candia of Pecos; two sons, Alex Candia of Odessa, Jose Candia III of Hobbs, N.M.; one step-daughter, Julie Moscarelli; five brothers, Jesus and Gabriel Candia of Pecos, Sergio Candia of Austin, Rudolfo and Rafael Candia of Odessa; six sisters, Alma Montoya of Odessa, Esther Acosta and Yolanda Rayos of Pecos, Lucy Yingling of Cincinnati, Ohio, Estella Garcia and Sandra Pacheco of Odessa, and one grandchild and one step-grandchild.

Maria "Mere" Lara Munoz, 84, of Pecos, died Wednesday, July 2, 2003,at Reeves County Hospital.

Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 4, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Ben Florez officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

She was born Dec. 8, 1918, in Pecos, was a homemaker, a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Survivors include one son, Reyes Munoz of Roswell, N.M.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Charlotte H. Waight

Charlotte H. Waight of Rogers, Texas, has left this life on July 1, 2003 to be with the Lord for eternity.

She was born on October 5, 1920, to Lily Amelia Powell Kerr and Edward Kerr. She was the first born of seven children.

After graduation from high school, she attended Howard Payne College. She obtained her BA in high school English and homemaking. She later obtained her Masters degree in Elementary Education at Sul Ross University. Several specialization certificates were also obtained at later dates. During this time, she taught high school, elementary education, title-one reading and became a school principal.

During her teaching years, she taught many of her siblings, her own children and grandchildren. Other relations that she taught were cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws. As her children grew up, she was very active in their activities. She was a very "on the go" person and liked to travel, explore and visit.

She retired from teaching in May 1989. After retirement, she was elected to the position of Mayor for the town of Toyah, Texas. During her long tenure as Mayor of Toyah, she obtained EMT certification and was certified as a TNRCC specialist.

Charlotte was a layleader in the Rogers Methodist Church. She was also active in the Methodist Church in Toyah. She enjoyed any type of arts and crafts activities. She had been a Girl Scout leader in Toyah.

She married Goerge Lichnovsky and had four children. She was divorced and remarried in 1955 to Ruben Raymond Waight of Toyah and became the mother of his son, Ray. He preceded her in death in 1977. Charlotte is survived by her children, Frank Lichnovsky of Midland, Ray Waight of Big Spring, Donald Waight of Rogers, Charles Waight of Midland and Amelia Meadors of Big Spring. There are 22 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 5, 2003 at First United Methodist Church in Toyah, Texas. Interment will follow at the Toyah Cemetery.

Charles Edge

Charles Carroll "Butch" Edge , died June 29, 2003.

Services will be held at 5 p.m., Wednesday, July 2, at Moab 5th Ward.

He was born April 23, 1944, in Pecos and was a Moab, Utah resident until his death.

Proceeded in death by son Charles (Lee) Edge.

Survivors include his wife: Juanita and eight children Deborah Shatto, Robert Tolley, Corina Spence, Marie Jess, Ray Tolley, Michael Tolley, Teresa Edge, Angela Edge and many special grandchildren.
