He moved to Midland in 2001 and had many interests including flying, electronics and any type of building and creating. His wife of 59 years, Elsie Carr Strong, preceded him in death. David Warren WoodsFuneral services for David Warren Woods, 44, will be held at 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Pecos, with burial at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Abbott officiating. Services are under the direction of Pecos Funeral Home. Woods was born on June 5, 1957 in Pecos, was a lifelong resident, and died Friday, March 29, 2002 at his residence. At the time of his death, he was a correctional officer for the Reeves County Detention Center. Survivors include his parents, Don and Gloria Woods of Pecos; a grandmother, Lillian Peak of Girard; one brother, Clay Woods of Abilene; one sister, Becky Wein of Pecos; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Craig Woods Frank JoplinCurtis Frank Joplin, 99, of Pecos, died Sunday, March 24, 2002, at Odessa Medical Center Hospital.Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 29, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Greer Willis officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. He was born June 7, 1902, in Kerens, Tx., had lived in Pecos since 1909, was a retired manager of a hardware store and a Baptist. Ynez PatinoSan Ynez "Chino" Renteria Patino, 74, of Pecos, died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at his residence.A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, March 31, at Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel. Mass is scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, April 1, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Toyah Catholic Cemetery. He was born March 4, 1927, in Petrolio, Tx., was a retired oilfield maintenance man, a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic. Survivors include his wife, Epimenia N. Patino of Pecos; two sons, Manuel Navarrete of Pecos, Ynez Patino, Jr. of Monahans; four daughters, Eugenia "Vickie" Barreno, Guadalupe "Lupe" P. Ramirez, Juanita "Janie" Patino, all of Pecos, Ydelfonsa "Kitos" P. Federico of El Paso; two brothers, Catarino Patino of California, Lucio Patino of Odessa; 26 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Raymond BowieRaymond Pinkney Bowie, 90, of Pecos, and formerly of El Paso, died March 26, 2002, at Reeves County Hospital after a short illness.A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 28, at the Pecos Church of Christ with Rev. Joel Harris officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery East in El Paso, on Friday, March 29, at 11 a.m. (Mountain Standard Time). He was born in Pecos on Nov. 14, 1911 and graduated from Pecos High School where he was active on the Eagle football, basketball and baseball teams. After 40 years of service with Lea County Gas, Western Gas Service Company and Southern Union Gas Company, he retired in 1974 as Division Manager in charge of construction. He was an avid sports fan particularly of the Dallas Cowboys and the University of Texas at El Paso Miner Basketball team. His hobbies included raising game fowl where he was known throughout the Southwest and Northern Mexico as a top breeder. As a member of the Church of Christ, he served as deacon of the North Loop Church of Christ in El Paso from 1970 through 1986. After moving back to Pecos in 1991, he was an active member of the Pecos Church of Christ. He married Opal Fenter Bowie in 1936, who preceded him in death in 1979. A son, Mike, also preceded him in death in 2000. He is survived by two sons, Jim and his wife, Betty of Round Rock and J. David and his wife, Mary of Dennis, Massachusetts and a daughter in law, Mary Bowie of Red Oak. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
